Revell-Monogram's Model Kit Revolutionizes Model Building

Plastic model kit leader Revell-Monogram, Inc. will take a leap into the
future when it introduces its revolutionary new model kit that
incorporates CD-ROM software at the American Toy Fair. The model kit for a
car or an airplane will be coupled with state-of-the-art CD-ROM software
that contains assembly instructions and a driving or flight simulation
game, featuring animated 3-dimensional graphics, human actors in motion
picture video vignettes and digitized sound effects and music.

"The model kit market will be stunned," says Tim Cawley, president and
chief executive officer of Revell-Monogram. "This product adds an exciting
high-tech dimension to model building and will revolutionize the way
consumers build models in the future."

To create the most spectacular CD-ROM software, Revell-Monogram worked with
Floyd Design, an award winning multimedia development company, and
Viewpoint Animated Engineering, a leading creator of datasets - digital
coordinates used to create 3D graphics.

The CD-ROM software can be used on any IBM-compatible computer that meets
multimedia personal computer standards, and will be available in English,
German, French and Dutch. Revell-Monogram also plans to create software
that is compatible with other CD drive systems such as Apple, Tandy and
Commodore.

"Our goal is to offer this unique product for as many platforms as
possible, so we are talking with a wide variety of hardware
manufacturers," says Cawley.

The company has three titles in the works, each featuring four cars or
plans. The first, which will be introduced at Toy Fair, is European
Racers. Future titles include Muscle Cars and High-Tech Aircraft, both are
scheduled for release in time for Christmas 1993.

Each title will include a plastic model kit for one of the four featured
cars or planes. The 3-D animated assembly instructions will show each
model part floating together on screen in proper position and sequence;
users can control assembly speed.

The product will also feature tips on painting, gluing and detailing, and
fun facts on each car or plane in the title.

After the model is built, the child can move on to the driving or flight
simulation game, which has four track or four flight path options,
real-time speed and handling of each car or plane.
