MICRO DATA BASE SYSTEMS, INC (mdbs) ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF INSPECTION
SOFTWARE

LAFAYETTE, IN - January 8, 1993 Micro Data Base Systems Inc. (mdbs)
announces the release of Inspection Data Manager (IDM) software. IDM
software is designed to meet the needs of plant inspection departments in
chemical industries as well as other industries. IDM assists companies in
addressing the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) regulations 29CFR part 1910.119, in addition to
guidelines provided by the Chemical Manufacturer's Association (CMA), and
standards set by the American Petroleum Institute (API).

IDM's four modules address the needs of inspection departments:

* The Equipment Records System (ERS) tracks equipment records including
basic design data, inspection scheduling, and equipment histories.

* The Thickness Measurement System (TMS) collects corrosion measurement
data, performs corrosion analysis, and calculates the remaining life of
equipment.

* Positive Materials Identification (PMI) tracks equipment and commodities
data, and supplier quality. It also determines equipment failure rates.

* The Work Order System (WOS) maintains work order data, provides
inspection work lists, and closes out completed work orders.

IDM includes an AutoCAD interface which allows AutoCAD drawings to be
viewed from the package. Inspection points, recent measurements, and next
scheduled inspection dates are shown directly on the AutoCAD drawing. Data
logger interfaces to Panametrics' 26DL PLUS and other popular data
collection devices are also supported.

IDM runs on most IBM compatible personal computers and uses MS-DOS. A local
area network (LAN) version is also available to allow for shared data and
convenient use by individual departments. The LAN version supports full
multi-user access to the inspection data.

Gary Rush, President of mdbs' Applications Solutions Division which
developed IDM states, "Today's strict regulatory environment virtually
demands the use of an automated system to carry out inspection functions.
Our package was built to meet the needs of inspection personnel and to
address the new OSHA requirements."

Bill Hatler, Lead Inspection Specialist for Exxon Chemicals says, "IDM has
allowed us to increase greatly the effectiveness of our inspection program
at Exxon. With IDM, we are able to meet government requirements for
inspection records. Additionally, we have information which has increased
inspection efficiency and accuracy."

mdbs has been developing IDM software since 1986. IDM version 3.0 is
currently used at Exxon installations around the world. mdbs will release
version 3.1 during the first quarter of 1993.
