Intergraph Enhances Open Solutions for the Technical Desktop

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Jan. 19, 1993 -- Intergraph Corporation announced today
new families of computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering
(CAD/CAM/CAE) workstations and servers based on its C400 reduced
instruction set computing (RISC) processor. The families include the
Series 2700, Series 6700, and Series 6800 workstations and servers. These
systems offer excellent price/performance and define new openness with two
operating environments: UNIX now and an option for Microsoft's Windows NT
later. The industry's first affordable 21-inch display was also
introduced.

Performance Boosts in C400 RISC Technology

The Series 6800 delivers overall estimated performance of 65.6 SPECfp92,
36.1 SPECint92 and 67.2 SPECmark89, while the Series 2700 and 6700 deliver
overall performance of 35.8 SPECfp92, 24.5 SPECint92 and 40.1 SPECmark89.
Intergraph applications will realize up to two-times improvement in
graphics performance with these new systems.

Availability and Price

The Series 2700 and 6700 will be available in the first quarter and the
Series 6800 during the second quarter. Domestic prices for fully
configured workstations range from $14,900 to more than $50,000. Server
prices range from $12,500 to $70,000.

UNIX, Windows NT, Interoperability

As announced earlier at Autofact and Fall Comdex, Intergraph is porting its
applications to Windows NT. Customers will have a choice of UNIX or
Windows NT operating system on the new workstations. Intergraph will
provide seamless interoperability for mixed environments.

Leadership in Display Technology

Intergraph also announced availability of a new 2-megapixel, 21-inch color
monitor. It joins existing 19-inch and the industry's only 27-inch
monitors, continuing Intergraph leadership in display technology. The
21-inch monitors are non-interlaced (flicker free), offer 76-Hz refresh
rate, 0.26-mm dot pitch, and the advanced AGRAS
(antiglare/reflectance-antistatic) technology.

These features significantly reduce user eye strain and fatigue and provide
sharp, crisp images, thus increasing productivity. In addition, these
monitors improve the clarity of images when viewing multiple applications
on the screen simultaneously, another feature that boosts production. The
monitor can also support stereo viewing.

According to Ted Krum, an industry analyst at D.H. Brown Associates, only
one other major vendor even offers a display with such high resolution.
Says Krum, "The smallest reasonably configured system (with this display)
would list for over $200,000."

Binary Compatible, Fully Configured

The new C400 systems provide upward binary compatibility with earlier
Intergraph Clipper-based products, protecting customer investments in
software, training, and databases. Intergraph has maintained a binary
compatible line of workstation and server products for more than six
years, far longer than any other workstation supplier in the industry.

Intergraph offers the new systems in a wide range of configurations and
options, though base configurations are fully CAD/CAM/CAE
application-ready. The standard workstation for all series has 32
megabytes of main memory and a 256-color 19- or 21-inch monitor. The
Series 2700 has a 426-megabyte, 3.5-inch hard disk, while the Series 6700
and 6800 have a 1-gigabyte, 3.5-inch hard disk in their standard
configurations.
