DPT SCSI Controllers Gain Novell's "Yes" Logo
SmartCache Plus Certified for NetWare Compatibility

January 22, 1993 -- Maitland, FL -- Distributed Processing Technology's
SmartCache Plus SCSI controllers have garnered Novell's new "Yes" logo,
identifying the products' compatibility with the NetWare operating
system.

Novell Labs has certified both the ISA and EISA versions of the popular
SmartCache Plus SCSI controller, which brings high disk performance to
NetWare users.

"Novell worked closely with Distributed Processing Technology (DPT) to
ensure that the SmartCache Plus SCSI controllers met Novell's strict
quality standards," said Dave Owen, vice president of engineering in
charge of Novell Labs (Provo, Utah).

Novell recently introduced its "Yes" logo program so that customers could
easily select NetWare-compatible hardware and software products for their
networks. After passing rigorous disk driver certification by Novell Labs,
the SmartCache Plus SCSI controllers with four megabytes of cache RAM have
earned the "Yes" logo for tested and approved NetWare compatibility.

"With Novell's certification, users can be assured of the performance
solution the SmartCache Plus brings to NetWare systems," said David Race,
DPT's vice president of marketing.

SmartCache Plus SCSI controllers provide a range of intelligent
capabilities for SCSI storage subsystems to increase throughput. These
capabilities include bus mastering, command overlapping, command queuing
and scatter/gather memory transfers. Additionally, SmartCache Plus SCSI
controllers offer users support for a variety of SCSI peripherals,
including tape drives, Magneto-Optical drives and CD-ROM devices.

The award-winning SmartCache Plus SCSI controller features a
"grow-as-you-go" design that allows users to easily scale their SCSI
performance to meet their expanding needs. The SmartCache Plus is the only
SCSI controller on the market that can be configured as either a
non-caching or a caching controller. The entry-level priced, non-caching
configuration is converted to a high-end caching controller by simply
adding DPT's unique plug-on caching module and up to 16 megabytes of cache
RAM to the base controller.

Additionally, DPT's add-on mirroring module -- a RAID 1 architecture --
provides support for a software independent array of mirrored drives. This
scalable architecture offers a complete range of price/performance
options, suitable for systems ranging from stand-alone desktops and small
networks up to multiprocessor-equipped file servers.

DPT is a leading supplier of high performance peripheral controllers and
connectivity software for microcomputers. Its technology includes the
first caching disk controller for the PC. DPT controllers are sold
worldwide through a network of major distributors and OEMs. The privately
held company, founded in 1977, is based near Orlando, Florida, with
European sales offices located near London, England, and Munich, Germany,
and a government sales office in Annapolis, Maryland.
