MACMILLAN NEW MEDIA ANNOUNCES NEW PRICING FOR THE AIDS COMPACT LIBRARY
CD-ROM

Cambridge, Massachusetts, January 4, 1993 -- Macmillan New Media (MNM)
today announced new prices, effective immediately, for its AIDS Compact
Library CD-ROM, the company's flagship product. Now in its fifth year of
publication, the award-winning disc is priced at $495 per year for
individuals and $695 for institutions/multi-users. The new prices reflect
a decrease of $200 from current prices. An annual subscription includes
four updates, issued quarterly.

MNM reduced the subscription price as part of the company's ongoing efforts
to disseminate the disc's crucial information on AIDS research and the
treatment of AIDS patients to the largest possible group. 'The new price
change should make the disc more affordable than ever before to
physicians, healthcare providers, libraries, AIDS services and other
organizations," said Frederick Bowes, III, MNM's President. In addition to
the price reduction, the content on the disc has been expanded to enhance
the disc's clinical offerings, as well as the scope of social, economic,
and public health information.

New additions include two important newsletters -- AIDS Clinical Care
published by the Massachusetts Medical Society, and AIDS Newsletter from
the Bureau of Hygiene and Tropical Diseases (BHTD) in London. All
AIDS-related articles from The Journal of the American Medical Association
(JAMA) and the American Journal of Public Health (ALJPH) have also been
added recently.

The AIDS Compact Library CD-ROM, edited by Deborah Cotton, MD, MPH, is an
extensive collection of databases on the topic of AIDS. It includes the
complete text of almost 10,000 AlDS-related articles from eleven top
medical journals, such as The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, AIDS,
Annals of Internal Medicine, AJPH, and others. In addition, the disc
contains the AIDS Database from the BHTD and three AIDS databases from the
National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland: AIDSLINE, AIDSTRIALS,
and AIDSDRUGS. Over 130,000 references from all sources are included on
the disc.

Macmillan New Media, located in Cambridge, MA, has pioneered the
development of medical CD-ROM products. The AIDS Compact Library CD-ROM
was MNM's first product, and it quickly earned the 1989 Laserdisc of the
Year Award from CD-ROM Professional magazine. From that base, MNM has
become an established leader in medical CD-ROM and multimedia publishing.
