GENERAL PARAMETRICS SELECTS FLOPTICAL DRIVE FOR NEW MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM

New Stand Alone VideoShow HQ Offers 21MB Floptical Subsystem for Mass
Storage Of Images and Sound

San Jose, CA--November 16, 1992--Insite Peripherals announced today that
General Parametrics Corp., Berkeley, Calif., is shipping the 3.5-inch 21
megabyte (MB) Floptical disk drive as a video storage device in its new
VideoShow HQ, the first easy-to-use, completely integrated, fully portable
multimedia presentation system.

The VideoShow HQ offers the presentation market the impact of multimedia
with full-motion video, live video, stereo sound, photographic images,
animation and high quality computer graphics. Presentation images can be
imported from VCRs, camcorders, tape decks, CD players, laser disks and
IBM PCs, PS/2s or Apple Macintosh computers.

"To import and store these high quality images requires a high capacity
storage system as technologically advanced as our VideoShow HQ" said Herb
Baskin, president and CEO of General Parametrics. "The Floptical drive is
the only cost-effective storage system that offers high performance,
downward compatibility with the VideoShow HQ's internal 1.44MB floppy
drive, and the flexibility to be used for data I/O, archival and backup
routines."

Chuck Moran, vice president of marketing and sales for Insite, said, "The
inclusion of the Floptical technology with the VideoShow HQ makes
multimedia accessible and affordable. Here, a familiar yet technologically
advanced data storage system is combined with a cutting edge multimedia
system to appeal to a broad range of the presentation market."

The unique modularity of the VideoShow HQ lets users select the multimedia
capabilities they want from a family of options and expand these
capacities as their needs grow with simple add-in boards for full-motion
video, image capture and sound.

Suggested retail price for the VideoShow HQ is $4999, with an optional 21MB
removable Floptical drive available for $999 and a 5-pack of 21MB
diskettes for $175. The VideoShow HQ also offers the revolutionary,
hand-held advanced remote control (ARC), which displays the presentation
image viewed by the audience on a full-color 3-inch palmsized LCD display
for $1299.

The 3.5-inch 21MB Floptical disk drive is seen as a superior solution for
low cost, removable, very high capacity data storage by the vast majority
of systems users. The Floptical drive's read/write compatibility with
standard capacity 720KB and 1.44MB diskettes, plus the clear migration
path to significantly higher capacities, assures this new technology's
place as an affordable mass storage alternative.

FLOPTICAL TECHNOLOGY BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The 3.5-inch Floptical disk drive features 21MB of formatted capacity (25MB
unformatted), one inch high form factor and single +5 volt power
requirements. The Floptical disk drive uses standard 3.5-inch diskettes
and variable mode dual heads which make it the first and only very high
capacity 3.5-inch flexible drive able to read and write standard lower
capacity 720KB and 1.44MB 35-inch diskettes. The Floptical drive's very
high capacity is achieved by combining patented optical servo track
positioning and magnetic recording technologies. Products based on
Floptical technology available from Insite OEMs include disk drives,
media, host adapter and subsystem products.
