PORTABLE STORAGE JUST GOT SMALLER, BIGGER, AND FASTER

Dauphin Debuts DynaDrive, 2.5", 85 MB, removeable diskette weighing about
an ounce

October 26, 1992, Lombard, IL: Leveraging off one of the largest portable
computer contracts ever awarded by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD),
Lombard, IL based Dauphin Technology, Inc. has taken an aggressive stance
in incorporating an amazing breakthrough in removable storage technology
into its notebook and pen-based computer lines. The Dauphin DynaDrive will
be introduced at the Las Vegas Hilton, Booth #7068 during Fall COMDEX,
November 16-21, 1992.

"The DynaDrive" will have a significant impact on the computer industry,"
according to Alan Yong, Dauphin's President and CEO. "This new generation
of storage media will create a whole new meaning for 'removable' and
re-define the portable computer."

The Dauphin DynaDrive

The Dauphin DynaDrive is a superior data storage technology that consists
of an internal drive utilizing 85 MB, removable 2 1/2" diskettes, weighing
about an ounce. It differs from the traditional 1-2 pound removable hard
drives in that all electronic and mechanical components are built into the
computer, leaving the media or storage diskette independent, free to
travel anywhere. With a blazing 14 ms access time, the Dauphin DynaDrive
offers infinite storage, ultimate portability, convenient data exchange,
unparalleled reliability and ease of use.

The 85 MB, DynaDrive diskette inserted into the Dauphin notebook's internal
drive offers enough storage capacity to hold your operating system,
several application programs and thousands of client files, maps, manuals,
clip art, scanned images and more. "Infinite storage can be achieved by
creating a library of diskettes, 12 alone make up a gigabyte," asserts Mr.
Yong.

The Dauphin 550 Notebook - DynaDrive

Among the first of the Dauphin products to incorporate the DynaDrive
technology is the Dauphin 550 notebook. This 486SLC, 25 MHz system is the
world's first dual drive mobile computer to feature a small fixed drive
and the DynaDrive removable diskette technology. "Executives can store
their operating system and applications on the Dauphin 550's fixed drive
and confidential files and high-level documents on their removable
DynaDrive diskettes," says Mr. Yong. "Also, as software applications grow
bigger and bigger, including operating systems like OS/2 and Windows NT,
storage capacity for mobile computer is becoming extremely crucial," notes
Mr. Yong. "The DynaDrive means a mobile computer can have inexpensive
unlimited storage with an impressive access time of 14 ms."

The Dauphin 5000 Pentop and External Drive - DynaDrive

The Dauphin DynaDrive will also be available internally in the Dauphin 5000
Pentop series, and as an external drive to Dauphin's other notebook and
pen-based product lines. The 5000 Pentop, Dauphin's first foray into
pen-based computing was followed in September, by the 5500 Color Pentop,
the first color pen-based computer ever. Both will incorporate the
DynaDrive technology.

Limitless Applications

"It is going to change the way people work," says Mr. Yong. An insurance
agent, for example would be capable of storing multiple lines of insurance
information using multiple diskettes. Each DynaDrive diskette could
contain rating information and forms relating to the specific lines of
coverage. During their presentation, they can easily load the appropriate
diskette, giving powerful, customized sales presentations. In addition to
creating libraries of data, the DynaDrive also offers new possibilities
for confidential and top secret documentation in the government sector and
other security conscious organizations. "Your most confidential documents
can now be locked away to assure maximum security," states Mr. Yong. At a
time when computer theft or loss has become a major concern for mobile
professionals, the removable diskettes offer alternative security.

This technology is also an ideal substitute for tape backup which is bulky
and expensive. "It may make tape backup systems obsolete," expresses Mr.
Yong.

Availability

The Dauphin DynaDrive products are slated for First Quarter 1993
production. Dauphin plans to introduce its DynaDrive product line to
interested computer companies for private labeling arrangements. "Ability
to interchange the diskettes among computers will be essential in creating
an industry standard with this revolutionary means of data storage," says
Mr. Yong. With its primary focus in R&D, Dauphin has been highly
successful in bringing new products to the industry. According to Mr.
Yong, "Dauphin is willing to share their technologically advanced products
with other computer companies." Dauphin will take the lead in bringing
this new removable data storage technology to market and encourage other
computer companies to follow.
