NEW CD-ROM PRODUCT ON CUTTING EDGE OF PERSONAL FITNESS

October 19, 1992 -- EVERGREEN, COLORADO: Remember when only encyclopedias
came on CD-ROM? Cordillera Press will become the first electronic
publisher to market a complete personal fitness training program on
CD-ROM when it begins shipping copies of THE OUTDOOR ATHLETE: Steve Ilg's
Cross-Training Guide for Wholistic Fitness and Sport Performance on
November 1. The Outdoor Athlete CD-ROM combines text, QuickTime video
with narration, and interactive files for journal keeping to provide a
personal training program which can be tailored to individual sports and
ability levels.

The Outdoor Athlete CD-ROM is designed to take advantage of the recently
released Apple Macintosh Performa 600 CD, part of Apple's plan to expand
its product line among first-time users, and its high-end counterpart the
Macintosh IIvx CD. The CD-ROM features QuickTime video of thirty-three
exercises; sport specific training programs for many outdoor activities,
and Steve's inspirational and informative essays. The interactive journal
files permit one to record daily workout routines and then total
cross-training hours monthly and annually.

"We certainly don't intend for you to do your workout in front of a
computer terminal," noted Cordillera President Walt Borneman, "but here
in one easily-accessible medium is an incredible amount of information.
You can print out your sport-specific training program or view the
QuickTime video clip of the exercises you want before your workout, and
then enter your journal activities afterwards. It's a lot easier than
carrying around a couple of books, running a video through the VCR, and
then hunting for your journal."

Steve Ilg is one of America's most creative personal trainers. His total
training concept of "wholistic fitness" has been featured in Outside,
Climbing, Triathlete, Rock & Ice, and other outdoor and fitness
magazines. Wholistic fitness blends strength training, cardiovascular
training, kinesthetic (flexibility) training, meditation, and nutrition
into a balanced cross-training program. Steve's first book, The Outdoor
Athlete: Total Training for Outdoor Performance, was originally published
in 1987 and is now in its fifth printing.

"The Outdoor Athlete is an excellent example of how QuickTime can be
utilized to enrich the interactive learning experience of CD-ROM," said
David Barwin, Senior Software Engineer for Macsimum Creative Enterprises
and the product manager for The Outdoor Athlete CD-ROM project. In
addition to the Apple Performa 600 CD/Macintosh IIvx CD, The Outdoor
Athlete CD-ROM works with any Macintosh having a 68020, 68030, or 68040
central processor with at least 4 megabytes of memory, running System 7.0
or higher, a color monitor, a CD-ROM drive, and a hard drive with at
least 2 megabytes of free space. The CD also contains a black and white
version without QuickTime for use on Apple PowerBook models. The Outdoor
Athlete CD-ROM retails for $39.95.

Cordillera Press publishes guidebooks, videos, and multi-media products
about outdoor recreation, adventure travel, and personal fitness.
