Multi-Tech's New Communications Software Gives Windows Users Speed and
Versatility

MOUNDS VIEW, MINNESOTA -- October 13, 1992 -- Multi-Tech Systems Inc., a
leading manufacturer of data communications equipment headquartered in
Mounds View, Minnesota, announces a new software communications package,
MultiExpress for Windows'. MultiExpress for Windows provides the popular
file transfer protocols and terminal emulations, plus a powerful script
language for data communications in the Microsoft Windows environment.

According to Raghu Sharma, President of Multi-Tech Systems Inc., "Graphical
user interfaces for communications software packages are being developed
throughout the data communications industry. Users enjoy the simplicity of
point-and-click dialing into a host computer, an information service, or
another PC. But along with convenience, Windows communications software
must also be able to handle today's high-speed modem technology. PCs with
16550 UARTs operate with serial port speeds up to 38.4K bps, and with a
Multi-Tech ISI card installed, datacomm speeds can approach 115K bps. Our
Intelligent Serial Interface cards buffer data so it can be transferred
much faster than a PC's serial port could normally handle. This is of
particular importance when several applications are being serviced by
Windows, increasing the possibility of dropped characters. MultiExpress
for Windows is designed to operate with both of these enhanced serial
ports at their maximum speeds."

MultiExpress for Windows provides emulation of VT100, ANSI, and IBM 3101
terminals ensuring appropriate functions for the variety of remote
systems, bulletin board systems, and mini/mainframe computers with which
the user may wish to connect.

MultiExpress for Windows supports several popular file transfer protocols,
including ASCII, XModem, Xmodem/CRC, XModem/1K, YModem, YModem/G, ZModem,
Kermit, and CompuServe B+. It also allows the user to customize session
parameters for each phone book listing. Once a listing has been created,
these settings can be activated and the phone number dialed by a double
click of the mouse. MultiExpress for Windows will redial a busy number, or
dial a series of numbers in any sequence specified by the user.

The powerful script language, mentioned earlier, can be used to automate
procedures like performing a complex or redundant login procedure and
up/downloading particular files on a regular basis. Its 160 commands can
be used to execute string operations, mathematical functions, file
operations, program flow control commands, display command functions,
terminal setting commands, dialing and session management commands,
predefined system variable settings commands, and more!

MultiExpress for Windows runs under version 3.1 of Microsoft Windows. It
will be available in December of this year, priced at $149.00.
