CHINON JOINS FLOPTICAL TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATION

A World Leader in Floppy Drive Manufacturing Is Iomega's Manufacturing
Partner For 21 Megabyte Disk Drives

Cupertino, CA - October 28, 1992 The Floptical Technology Association (FTA)
today announced that Chinon Industries, Inc., of Suwa City, Japan, is now
a member of the FTA. Chinon pins the other world leaders in disk drive,
media and host adapter products in the trade organization founded to
promote the Floptical technology standard in very high capacity floppy
storage.

Iomega Corp., Roy, Utah, and Chinon have announced that Chinon will
manufacture Floptical disk drives for Iomega. Iomega will announce its
drive product when it is available. Iomega, a founding member of the FTA,
has already announced its own branded Floptical diskettes. Both products
will be sold through its normal sales channels, as well as directly to
original equipment manufacturers (OEM).

The 3.5-inch, 21 megabyte (MB) Floptical disk drive is the leading
contender as the next floppy storage standard. The 21MB diskettes are
capable of storing over 14 times more data than a 1.44MB disk and 28 times
more than a 720KB disk.

Chinon is one of the world's largest manufacturers of floppy disk drives,
as well as a manufacturer of over computer peripherals and optical
assemblies. Over 500,000 floppy drives are manufactured monthly at the
company's automated facilities throughout Japan. Other products
manufactured to a high degree of quality and reliability include 35mm
cameras, video cameras, lenses, printers and optical drives. Founded in
1948, Chinon has been manufacturing optical products and information
equipment for many of the world's largest OEMs, including Kodak, Siemens
and Toshiba.

Mr. Hiroshi Chino, founder and president of Chinon, stated, 'It is
important for us to be on the leading edge of the floppy disk drive
market, as we believe Floptical technology can eventually become the next
floppy standard. We look forward to helping implement this new standard."

Mr. Anton Radman, Iomega's senior vice president of corporate development,
celebrated the newest FIA member. "We sought and found the highest quality
manufacturer for our new Floptical drives. We welcome Chinon to its place
as a member of the FIA and look forward to its participation as we move
rapidly toward industry standardization."

Mr. Radman went on to say, "Floptical technology is perhaps the most
important new storage technology for business and corporate users in this
decade. All the advantages of floppies, plus an aggressive capacity
migration path to 40 and 80 megabytes, mean that users will not get left
behind in the explosion of user-friendly software storage requirements and
systems performance growth."
