E-MACHINES ANNOUNCES POWERLINK FAMILY OF DOCKS FOR THE POWERBOOK DUO

PowerLink Presentor Delivers Traveling Presentation; PowerLink DeskNet
Provides Desktop Ethernet Connections

BEAVERTON, Oregon USA--October 19, 1992--In partnership with Apple
Computer, Inc.'s announcement of its new Macintosh PowerBook Duo,
E-Machines announces PowerLink Presentor and PowerLink DeskNet. "The
PowerBook Duo lets users make the best use of a portable computer at home,
or in the office," states Steve Vollum, President of E-Machines. "Thanks
to our technology partnership with Apple, PowerLink Presentor and
PowerLink DeskNet expand on the PowerBook Duo's strengths by adding
presentation capabilities and a complete network desktop."

PowerLink Presentor is the only traveling dock that lets PowerBook Duo
users give color presentations any time, any where. Until now, portable
computer users had to carry heavy equipment along to deliver
presentations. With a combined weight of about 5 Lbs, PowerBook Duo and
Presentor are light enough to take anywhere. The compact, lightweight
Presentor makes use of display devices available at the presentation site,
including direct connections to Mac and SVGA displays, LCD panels, and
even NTSC/PAL televisions.

PowerLink Presentor includes all the features necessary to deliver
effective presentations. Presentor's exclusive convolution technology
eliminates the annoying flicker normally seen in uncorrected video output.
And with 256 colors and stereo sound, Presentor delivers lively,
interesting presentations that hold the attention of the audience.

Zooming emphasizes important details in the presentation, while multiple
resolutions let users optimize the presentation to fully utilize the
advanced display capabilities. In addition to its presentation
capabilities, ADB and external floppy connections make PowerLink Presentor
a cost effective secondary dock for the office or at home.

PowerLink DeskNet is the only desktop dock for the PowerBook Duo that
features high-speed Ethernet networking, including a choice of twisted
pair (10BaseT) or thin (10Base2) Ethernet. Performance with Ethernet is 5
to 10 times faster than LocalTalk, so users get full-speed connections to
all network resources, including printers, file servers, network modems,
and other peripherals.

In addition to Ethernet, DeskNet provides all the desktop functions to turn
the PowerBook Duo into a complete business-class computer. These
connections include: color displays support at resolutions up to 1024 x
768, a floppy drive, a SCSI device, ADB devices, a serial port, and stereo
in/out.

Presentor and DeskNet incorporate Apple's exclusive PowerLatch docking
technology to allow users to easily connect to the PowerBook Duo, with no
need to reconfigure cables or software. Presentor has a suggested retail
price of $499, and will be shipping in November. PowerLink DeskNet has a
suggested retail price of $699 and will be shipping in December.
