SOFTWARE DEVELOPER WINS SECOND PLACE IN 1992 SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS'
COMPETITION USING MICRO DATA BASE SYSTEMS, INC.'S KNOWLEDGEMAN

LAFAYETTE, IND. - October 14, 1992 - A North Carolina software developer
placed second and won $3000 when he used Micro Data Base Systems, Inc.'s
(mdbs) powerful relational database management system, KnowledgeMan$,
during the 1992 Software Developers Competition held last weekend in
Durham, N.C. More than 50 teams from as far away as Australia participated
in the six-hour competition which involved designing a software database
for the Duke University Primate Center. Last year's competition created a
child-abuse tracking system now in use at Duke Medical Center

Founded in 1979, mdbs is a pioneer in database management software for VAX,
Sun and PC computers. mdbs products include: KnowledgeMan, an integrated
information management system for business applications; GURU, a
comprehensive expert systems environment; GURU Solveur, a do-it-yourself
