New Brochure Describes LabVIEW Graphical Instrumentation Software for the
Windows-Based PC, Sun SPARCstation, and Macintosh

October 2, 1992 - Austin, TX - National Instruments announced today a new
eight-page, full-color brochure highlighting its LabVIEW graphical
instrumentation software for Windows-based PCs, Sun SPARCstations, and
Macintosh computers. The free brochure describes how engineers and
scientists can use LabVIEW for automating instrumentation applications.

LabVIEW is a general-purpose programming tool with extensive libraries for
data acquisition, instrument control, data analysis, and data
presentation. With LabVIEW, engineers and scientists build software
modules called virtual instruments (VIs) instead of writing text-based
programs. Typical LabVIEW applications include laboratory automation,
automated testing, automotive and aerospace engineering, process
monitoring and control, physiological monitoring, and personal
instrumentation.

LabVIEW features a library of ready-to-use controls, graphs, and strip
charts for quickly and easily building custom user interfaces and control
panels. With LabVIEW, users build block diagrams as the executable
programs. Icon libraries include GPIB, VXI, and Instrument Driver VI
libraries for controlling over 100 GPIB. VXI, and RS-232 instruments using
the company's interface hardware; and Analysis VI libraries for performing
data analysis, including routines ranging from simple statistics to
advanced digital signal processing (DSP). LabVlEW for Windows and LabVlEW
for Macintosh also have a Data Acquisition VI Library tor controlling the
company's plug-in data acquisition, DSP, and signal conditioning
hardware.
