NSSI INTRODUCES FailSafe II for Microsoft Windows

Microsoft Windows Power Management Software for Standalone Workstations and
PCs

San Diego, Oct. 26, 1992 - Network Security Systems, Inc., (NSSI) today
introduced FailSafe II for Microsoft Windows, complete power management
software that controls and manages power in a Microsoft Windows
environment. NSSI's FailSafe II for Microsoft Windows brings to standalone
workstations and PCs the power control required to avoid the loss of data
in volatile memory in a multi-tasking environment.

"Multi-tasking is in great demand to improve the speed and flexibility of
the computing environment," said Bill Humphreys, president of NSSI.

"As more of the data resides in the computer's volatile memory to improve
performance, the risk of losing data not yet written to a non-volatile
storage medium consequently increases. In a DOS environment, a power
failure can cause the loss of data associated with a single task. In a
Microsoft Windows environment, the risk of losing data not yet written to
a non-volatile storage medium is extended to 'n' number of tasks. In
addition, the use of disk caching programs associated with Microsoft
Windows places the entire file system in jeopardy. NSSI has come out with
FailSafe II for Microsoft Windows to specifically address this vital
issue."

FailSafe II for Microsoft Windows power management features include:

** automatic and orderly shutdown without the need for manual
intervention -- critical to maintaining data integrity in a
   multi-tasking environment;
** continuous real-time monitoring of utility power for surges,
   sags and blackouts,
** real-time configuration for hardware and software operations
   without re-installing the software or rebooting the computer;
** an exclusive "PowerPro" feature for setting voltage limits,
thus customizing the hardware operation to local power
conditions and preserving battery capacity; and
** software controlled preventive maintenance procedures
providing increased system life and reliability.

FailSafe II for Microsoft Windows and NSSI's line of intelligent UPSs
(IPS/A.I. models) combine to provide a complete fault tolerant system. To
extend its IPS/A.I. product line, NSSI has recently introduced the
IPS/A.I. 300 and 450 models to offer affordable power protection for
workstations.

The U.S. list price of FailSafe II for Microsoft Windows is $99 and is
available now.
