ENSONIQ INTRODUCES ASR-10 ADVANCED SAMPLING WORKSTATION

October 1, 1992 -- Malvern, PA--ENSONIQ Corp has announced the release of a
new sampling keyboard, the ASR-10 Advanced Sampling Workstation. This
next-generation sampler is the first product to incorporate ENSONIQ's
newest chip design, the OTTO chip, which provides many significant
advancements. "We've been listening to our customers for some time now,
and with our new chip design we are able to provide all the important
features they requested, along with a few innovations of our own," states
ENSONIQ President Bruce Crockett.

The ASR-10 is 31-note polyphonic and offers stereo or mono sampling.
Standard memory is 2 Megabytes, which is expandable up to 16 Megabytes
using industry-standard SIMMs. Sample times range from 10 seconds in
stereo at a 44.1 kHz sampling rate to a maximum of 3 minutes mono in a
fully expanded machine. The ASR-10 provides true 16-bit linear sampling,
utilizing 64x oversampling Sigma-Delta technology for flawless sound
reproduction.

The ASR-10 has an onboard 24-bit stereo effects processor with 50
algorithms, ranging from high quality reverbs, delays and chorusing to
signal conditioning effects such as compression, parametric EQ and inverse
expansion. All effects are fully programmable and allow dynamic control of
all parameters from a variety of modulation sources. The ASR-10 offers a
wealth of sampling options, allowing sounds to be sampled through the
effects, resampled through different effects in the digital domain, or
allow resampling of any sound combination triggered from the keyboard,
onboard sequencer or from MIDI.

Audio Tracks allow external signals to be routed through the effects in
realtime, so other instruments or a microphone can be plugged into the
ASR-10 and share the onboard effects capabilities.

The ASR-10 shares the same voice architecture as ENSONIQ's EPS series
samplers, with a wealth of wave editing commands and synthesis
capabilities. Most DSP functions in the ASR-10 can be auditioned, so the
user can try various crossfade looping options and compare their results
with the original before choosing which to keep. This includes a new Time
Compression/Expansion function, which changes the length of sampled data
without affecting pitch, critical for drum loops and broadcast production
needs.

The ASR-10 has a 16-track sequencer with complete editing and MIDI
automated mixdown capabilities, ENSONIQ's exclusive Patch Selects and
Poly-Key Pressure keyboard, optional SCSI and digital I/O interfaces and a
quad-density (HD) disk drive. It is compatible with all the existing sound
libraries and computer software support developed for the EPS series,
giving it the largest library of available sounds for a sampling
instrument today. The ASR-10 ships with 8 sound disks and includes a
Tutorial manual with a disk of examples, as well as a detailed Reference
Manual.

The ASR-10 has a suggested retail price of $2695.00 (US) and is currently
shipping. ENSONIQ plans to release a rackmount ASR-10 early in 1993 and
plans an aggressive campaign of new sound development, including CD-ROM
