SAN FRANCISCO, September 22, 1992 -- At Seybold Seminars '92 today, Aldus
Corporation unveiled a new package design for its worldwide line of
professional products. New boxes for Aldus FreeHand, Aldus Persuasion, and
Aldus PhotoStyler will begin appearing in retail outlets at the end of
this month. New packaging for other domestic and all international
products will debut later this year and in 1993.

The introduction of new professional packaging emphasizes Aldus' corporate
strategy, which is to deliver two product lines that meet the different
needs of its customers: a professional line (for graphics professionals
who require precision- and production-oriented tools in their daily work)
and a consumer line (for customers who require value-priced, easy-to-use
graphics software). The new packaging is designed to establish separate
identities for the two lines and highlight customer benefits of each. The
consumer-line packaging style was introduced in June 1992 with the
shipment of Aldus IntelliDraw, a drawing program developed by the Aldus
Consumer Division.

"Aldus' new packaging represents a dramatic change in the visual identity
of Aldus and our professional products," said Paul Brainerd, president of
Aldus. "The new designs reinforce our commitment to deliver powerful
productivity solutions to our professional customers. In addition, the
packaging demonstrates the design and technical sophistication that can be
achieved with desktop tools."

These innovative package designs were produced by Aldus' in-house Creative
Services department entirely with Aldus products--from design and logotype
development to writing, layout, and prepress production. Aldus also
commissioned leading illustrators to create the unique, product-specific
images on the front of each box using Aldus products. The packaging
conversion introduces a new look for Aldus boxes; the software inside the
boxes is identical to packages currently in retail outlets.

"Using desktop prepress technology, we were able to research, design, and
implement a worldwide packaging solution in only six months," said Ann
Senechal, Aldus Creative Services manager. "In addition to meeting the
complex requirements for worldwide merchandising and marketing, the new
designs reduce the unit cost of production and allow us to continue our
commitment to environmental sensitivity."

The new packaging uses cardboard packing materials instead of foam,
substitutes paper disk envelopes for plastic ones, and provides manuals
printed on uncoated paper stocks.

Aldus Corporation (NASDAQ:ALDC) creates computer software solutions that
help people throughout the world effectively communicate information and
ideas. The Aldus product line includes Aldus PageMaker--the company's
flagship program--as well as Aldus Digital Darkroom, Aldus FreeHand, Aldus
Gallery Effects, Aldus IntelliDraw, Aldus Personal Press, Aldus
Persuasion, Aldus PhotoStyler, Aldus PrePrint, Aldus SuperCard, Aldus
SuperPaint, and Aldus Super 3D. The company distributes its products
through an international network of more than 16,000 dealers and
distributors.
