BOSTON -- August 19, 1992 -- Borland International and Pioneer Software
announced today the release of a new product, Q+E DataLink/OV, which
enables ObjectVision developers to link their applications to 10
additional major database formats. Q+E DataLink/OV provides database
access via a set of self-registering ObjectVision @functions that perform
database operations. With Q+E DataLink/OV, ObjectVision users can easily
augment ObjectVision's database access with SQL data and other major data
formats. Powerful, high quality applications that support a broad range of
databases may be quickly developed by leveraging ObjectVision's power and
ease of use in combination with the additional database access
capabilities provided by Q+E DataLink/OV. Q+E DataLink/OV will be
demonstrated for the first time at the Windows and OS/2 Conference in
Boston at booth 650.

"We're excited that Pioneer Software will provide our customers with even
more flexibility in connecting applications to additional database
formats," said Gene Wang, vice president and general manager of Borland's
Languages Business Unit. "The combination of ObjectVision's rapid
development capabilities, and Q+E DataLink/OV's extensive connectivity to
SQL data, is an excellent solution for corporate developers."

Performs all Database Operations for SQL and Non-SQL Databases

Q+E DataLink/OV enables ObjectVision developers to build applications that
provide seamless data access to data formats not currently supported in
ObjectVision. Q+E DataLink/OV's self-registering @functions perform all
database operations for SQL and non-SQL databases including: create,
modify, and delete database tables; insert, update and delete database
records; and process database transactions. The Q+E DataLink/OV @functions
also provide developers with error handling and debugging capabilities.
Applications built using Q+E DataLink/OV can be distributed royalty-free.

Q+E DataLink/OV provides an identical interface for all supported database
systems enabling developers to build ObjectVision applications that access
multiple database systems simultaneously. Developers can also write a
single application which can access any of the supported databases without
rewriting the application for each database system. This allows developers
to build their applications on a local database system and later run it on
a different database system. This portability remarkably reduces time,
effort, development and maintenance costs.

Support is included for 17 Major Database Systems

Q+E DataLink/OV provides a common programmatic interface to AS/400,
Btrieve, dBASE, DB2, Excel Files, Ingres, Netware SQL, Oracle, OS/2 DBM,
Paradox, Sybase, SQLBase, SQL/DS, SQL Server, Tandem NonStop SQL, Text
files, and XDB. Q+E DataLink/OV is built on Pioneer's widely used
Multi-Database Technology, which is also the basis for Pioneer's Q+E
Database Editor, the industry's best selling Windows database front-end
tool.

Pricing and Availability

Q+E DataLink/OV has a suggested retail price of $399.00. Pioneer Software
is offering Q+E DataLink/OV for a special introductory price of only $299
until January 1, 1993. Applications built and distributed with Q+E
DataLink/OV are royalty free. Q+E DataLink/OV will ship in October 1992.
