RACAL-DATACOM NETWORK ASSURANCE PLAN OFFERS MAINTENANCE AND REMOTE NETWORK
OPERATIONS

SUNRISE, FL. -- The Network Assurance Plan, a total service offering to
package maintenance, remote network operations and technical support
capabilities is now available from Racal-Datacom.

"This offering is a result of our experience providing maintenance and
support services and remote network operations," said Mike Chalfant,
senior vice president and general manager of Racal-Datacom Network
Services. 'We listened to the business needs of our customers and heard a
need to package the most popular features of our existing programs in a
new comprehensive service.

"Our customers tell us they want more support for network diagnostics and
technical assistance to solve network problems. They tell us of rapid
network growth that strains their existing network operations so they need
help running their bigger and more complex networks. They also tell us of
difficulties training their technicians to keep abreast of new network
technologies. Above all, they tell us that their business can't afford and
won't tolerate prolonged network outages. The Network Assurance Plan
addresses these needs."

Under the plan, Racal maintains and manages the user's Racal-Datacom
network equipment and Communications Management Series (CMS) network
management system. This includes business hours, after hours, on weekends
and holidays, or 365 days a year. On-line monitoring is performed by
Racal's Remote Network Operations Center in Sunrise, FL.

CMS is an integrated network management system comprised of flexible,
modular units that provide LAN/WAN support for today's distributed
computing environment. The CMS system performs functions from fault
isolation to configuration management, all with easy-to-use graphic
interfaces and automated management abilities.

Customer benefits from the Network Assurance Plan include:

1. Vigilant monitoring, aggressive problem management and professional held
service ensure that problems are identified, diagnosed and repaired
quickly. Network downtime is minimized.

2. Achievement of a higher level of network support with fewer technicians.
Racal's expert technicians handle the network monitoring, diagnosis,
dispatch, maintenance and problem management.

3. Management of the resolution of circuit-related problems, including the
dispatch of telco technicians on the customer's behalf and providing
documentation for circuit outage rebates.

4. A total maintenance service agreement which is easy to budget, approve,
plan and manage.

5. A monthly bill is issued in a single amount based on the network
configuration and selected service coverage. There are no hidden or
additional charges for "No trouble found" service calls, parts, materials,
delivery of replacement equipment, mileage or zone premiums.

The Network Assurance Plan is the most comprehensive and cost-effective
support program offered. Racal takes care of any problem no matter where
in the network it is diagnosed by acting as the user's agent with the
telephone companies.

Standard features of the service include: maintenance of Racal equipment at
customer sites anywhere in the United States; continuous network alarm
monitoring; remote diagnostics and isolation of Racal equipment, software
and telco circuit problems; and remedial actions to correct problems and
restore the network. Equipment availability is guaranteed. Monthly
activity reports include trouble ticket detail and color graphic
summaries. Telephone product technical assistance and routine CMS
configuration database support is provided. Software revisions recommended
by Racal Technical Services will be installed. New data circuit
installations will be coordinated.

Racal will arrive on-site within four contract hours within 50 miles of
Racal "Zone A" cities or within eight contract hours at all other U.S.
Locations. An option reduces the "Zone A" response time to within two
hours.
