available from Micro Express. These 66-MHz PCs are new members of the
three Micro Express upgradable PC families...MicroFLEX, ME 486-Local Bus
and ME 486-EISA.

MicroFLEX is an ISA-bus upgradable series of machines that extends from the
386DX/33 processor up through the 486DX2/66. ME 486-Local Bus is an
ISA-bus upgradable series of machines that incorporates local bus graphics
on the motherboard for speedy operation of all graphics programs,
including those based on Windows 3.1. The ME 486-EISA is an EISAbus
upgradable series of machines that was the first upgradable PC to
incorporate a ZIF socket for easy switching of the microprocessor and
Flash BIOS for easily upgrading the BIOS through software.

Typical configurations of the MicroFLEX and the ME 486-Local Bus include:
4-MB of RAM; 256K of RAM cache; a 120-MB fast hard disk; both 3-1/2" and
5-1/4" high-density floppy disk drives; Super VGA Color graphics card and
monitor; a mouse; DOS 5.0; and Windows 3.1. Outfitted with the i486DX2/66
microprocessor, the MicroFLEX costs only $2350. ME 486-Local Bus 486DX2/66
runs $2500.

The ME 486-EISA/DX2/66 typically comes with a 300-MB hard disk and 8-MB of
RAM, with the rest of the configuration the same. This system sells for
$4715.
