WHITE PLAINS, NY, June 29, 1992--The PRODIGY service extends into another
galaxy with Rebel Space, a new Custom Choice available beginning today.
Rebel Space turns players into intergalactic explorers in the future whose
mission is to open up new regions of the galaxy for an all-powerful
Empire. A multiplayer strategy game with dramatic graphics, Rebel Space
allows players to compete against up to 49 other players connected through
the PRODIGY service.

Rebel Space is a challenging, yet easy-to-learn game for science fiction
fans of all ages, and is based on themes of exploration, conquest,
colonization and combat. At the start of the game, all players are in the
service of the Empire--a tottering, but still powerful entity that has
just opened up a new region of space for colonization. After a few turns,
it becomes apparent that the Empire is breaking apart and players must
make important decisions to secure an advantage over competitors and gain
control of an interstellar empire.

Players have four ships at their command and choose from a combination of
modules to enhance each ship's capabilities. Modules include engines,
scanners, lasers, shields and environmods, which increase the rate at
which the environment on a planet advances. On each turn, players make
fleet navigation, shipbuilding and diplomacy decisions. Players move their
ships by entering simple compass directions or by using special Jump
points to travel great distances. They also have the option of joining
alliances with other players (Environmentalist, Militarist or Scientist),
or "going rogue." Players receive points for colonizing planets, improving
them environmentally or socially, establishing trade routes between three
or more adjacent planets and building starbases.

Rebel Space is a Custom Choice for the PRODIGY service and is priced at
$24.95 for a 25-turn game, with each player having the option of taking
two, three or five turns a week. A turn consists of a player making moves
through the PRODIGY service and receiving results via standard PRODIGY
electronic mail. After each turn, players receive a complete status report
and narrative describing the environmental and societal advances of the
players' planets since the past turn.

To sign up for the game, PRODIGY service members [JUMP]: rebel space.
Players have the option of playing a game with their friends, or letting
Prodigy place them in the next available game. Players can visit the
Stargate Cafe, a bulletin board for members to meet, form games, share
strategies and stories. Also when they sign up, players receive an
instruction book, and can earn promotions in rank within the game as they
play more games. Beyond Software, an entertainment software developer
based in San Rafael, California, created Rebel Space and offers a customer
service/help center online.

PRODIGY Service Start-up Kits are available in more than 15,000 stores
around the country. Prodigy maintains a special toll-free number to locate
dealers: 1-800PRODIGY.
