MANCHESTER, N.H., July 13, 1992 -- Facit, Inc. today introduced a new
continuous feed laser printer incorporating a straight paper path designed
for feeding tractor fed paper and pressure sensitive labels. The new D7160
is ideal for a variety of industrial-grade applications including
shipping, warehousing, material handling and packaging. It is one of the
few printers on the market that combines the continuous feed paper
handling capabilities of impact printers with high quality laser output.

The Facit D7160 features a high-performance 32-bit RISC-based graphics
controller, providing fast processing speed to continuously configure and
print information "on the fly" at 1,200 lines per minute without slowing
down. It delivers 16 pages per minute on continuous, tractor-fed media,
independent of text size, bar codes, graphics and variables.

In Image Mode, the QMS Magnum Code V emulation can be used to replace
Printronix IGP 11 and 21 line printers. In compressed mode, the unit can
handle high volume line printer applications where it is necessary to
print documents exceeding the standard 8.5 by 11 inch boundaries by
printing one-, two- or four-up pages in a compressed mode. This allows the
D7160 to provide exceptional speed at 4,800 lines per minute. Standard IBM
ProPrinter Model II emulation is also incorporated.

The Facit D7160 is shipped with Facit Magic Mode for Microsoft Windows
software. This powerful Windows-based software can be used to create,
print and store a variety of bar code labels. It offers What You See Is
What You Get (WYSIWYG) convenience, enabling the operator to view the
label on the computer screen exactly as it will be printed. Because the
program runs under Microsoft Windows (version 3.0 and higher), it is
especially easy to learn and use.

The D7160 can store and print company logos and up to 40 different types of
bar codes including Code 39, UPC, Code 128, Codabar, EAN, 2-of-5, Postnet
and others. Bar codes and fonts can be rotated in four orientations.
Machine readable OCR-A and OCR-B fonts are also available. The D7160 also
has automatic incrementing and decrementing number fields.

The straight paper path and tractor feed capabilities provide smooth label
feeding, and media from 4.5 inches to 10 inches wide can easily be fed
into the printer. Maximum print width is eight inches wide while print
length is unlimited.

The D7160 also offers automatic loading, making it simple to set
top-of-form. Other features include industry standard command set
compatibility, compact design and unlimited forms length.

The Facit D7160 is available in 30 days and is offered at $5,999 suggested
list price.
