The following are notes concerning the HEX editor.

1) HEX.CFG FILE

The hex.cfg file contains information that HEX can use
instead of the defaults, to set the editor environment.
The color settings should be changed from within HEX
   using the F6 option.

The PAUSE TIME=<milliseconds> option allows the user to
specify the time that little information windows stay
on the screen. This may be set to zero to rid of them
totally. If the PAUSE TIME=<milliseconds> line does not
appear in the hex.cfg file, a default of about 1 second
   is used.

Other configuration options will be available in future
revisions. Hopefully, key re-mapping will be one of the
first, for those who are used to using different keys
   for certain functions.

By default, HEX looks for the hex.cfg from the environment
variable HEXPATH. A line such as 'set HEXPATH=u:\progs'
would be expected if the hex.cfg file was in the u:\progs
   directory. No trailing backslashes please.

If there is no environment variable set, HEX will blindly
search the c:\hex directory. If it is not there, the internal
   defaults are used.

2) DOS SHELL

Alt Z will put you into a DOS shell. Command.com must be in
   your path.

3) GETTING HELP

It is recommended that you use the F1 option to get help. Go
through all of the options available, learning the
significance of all of the different functions.

4) HORSES MOUTH
