Status Definitions Special Note: All applications are handled in line, based on receipt date of the application and must be reviewed for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to the applicable Rule Part(s). Interim contacts with the Laboratory staff will slow the process, and may hinder the issuance of grants as time must be redirected to answer inquiries. Every effort is being made to handle applications in an expeditious manner. Administrative information requested - Additional and/or amended administrative information has been requested by letter or telephone call. In some cases, the application may have been returned to the applicant under Section 1.1107(d) of the Rules for correction. The application will continue to be processed, however the application review cannot be completed and no grant issued, until the requested information is received. Administrative review - Application is under review by an applications examiner for administrative accuracy and completeness. Application Denied - This application has been denied for reasons specified by letter to the applicant. If an application for this equipment is resubmitted, authorization must be requested under a new FCC Identifier (FCC ID). Application Dismissed - This application has been dismissed for reasons specified by letter to the applicant. The application will generally also be returned to the applicant, who may correct and resubmit the application with the appropriate fee to the Commission at the Washington, DC Fee address. Awaiting typing - A request for additional information or permissive change/ modification letter has been forwarded for typing. Under normal circumstances the letter will be mailed from the FCC Laboratory within one week of the status date. Deferred - Review of the application has been deferred for agency reasons, or at the request of the applicant. When deferred by the agency the applicant is informed of the reasons for deferring, normally within one week of the status date. When a request for deferred grant is made by the applicant, deferred status indicates that review has been completed and the authorization will be issued on the date requested. Grant issued - A Grant of Equipment Authorization has been issued. The grant must be reviewed for accuracy and initialed by an examiner or engineer before mailing. Please allow 2-3 weeks for receipt of grant. Marketing of this product can proceed as of the date of this grant. Grant reissued - The grant required correction or the applicant did not receive the grant and a duplicate was issued. Grant set aside - Under the provisions of Section 1.113, any authorization can be set aside within one month of the date of the grant for reasons listed in the stated Rule Section. When an equipment authorization has been set aside, the application returns to pending status and is subject to request for additional information, dismissal or denial. Grant surrendered - The grant issued has been surrendered by the grantee. Marketing of the equipment under the specific FCC ID after the date specified is illegal. Logged in - Application has been logged into the equipment authorization data base. Log-in is normally accomplished within two days of the receipt of the application at the FCC Laboratory from the Fee Section. For more immediate confirmation of receipt of an application, return receipt requested submission is recommended. Modification approved - A request for modification to this equipment has been approved and a letter or grant has been issued. Permissive change approved - A request for a Class II permissive change has been approved and a letter or grant has been issued. A grant will be issued if an item on the original grant is changed as a result of this request. Recommended for grant - This application has been approved and a grant will be issued. If this device requires more than one authorization procedure, (i.e., transceiver with the same FCC ID assigned to the transmitter and receiver) a grant will not be issued until all authorization procedures are approved. Marketing may not proceed until a grant is issued. Sample received - requested sample has been received at the FCC Laboratory. Sample requested - A letter requesting submittal of a sample has been sent. Review of the application cannot be completed until the sample is received. The sample will be tested to determine compliance of the equipment with the applicable Rule Part(s). Technical information requested - Additional technical information has been requested by letter or telephone call. No further processing will be done pending receipt of the information. Technical review - Application has been forwarded to an engineer for review. Review will not be completed for approximately 3 - 4 weeks after the listed status date. Upon completion of review, a request for additional information, request for an equipment sample, a grant of equipment authorization, letter of denial or letter of dismissal will be mailed. A limited quantity of forms may also be obtained from local Field Operation Bureau Field Offices (See Main Menu 4 on PAL for locations). Forms may also be reproduced. However, forms should not be reproduced in large quantities, since they are subject to revision. The "expiration date" shown in the upper right corner of forms is an indication to the processing office that the Office of Management Bureau (OMB) approval of that edition of the form is scheduled to expire. The processing office will either revise the form or request a new expiration date. Revised forms will indicate, usually in the lower left corner, whether the current edition may continue to be used indefinitely or until a specified date; or whether the current edition will become obsolete upon release of the revised edition. Listed below are those forms for which the Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) is responsible for processing, and other forms for which the Equipment Authorization Branch receives a substantial number of inquiries. Form numbers marked (*) are grants and licenses issued by the respective Offices after an application has been successfully processed; those marked (**) are processed by different offices of the Field Operations Bureau.
