			hDC Power Toolboxes 1.0
		       -------------------------

This document describes hDC Power Toolboxes, a set of toolboxes for
many popular Windows applications.

hDC Power Toolboxes adds predefined floating toolboxes to the following
Windows applications:

    1-2-3 Microphone II Terminal
Ami Pro Norton Desktop Visual BASIC
    Calendar Notepad Windows Express
    Cardfile PageMaker Windows Express Editor
    Crosstalk Paintbrush Word 2.0
    Excel ProComm Plus WordPerfect
    File Manager	Program Manager Write

Each toolbox contains buttons that allow you to perform typical operations
in a single click. And with the supplied toolbox editor, you can
customize these toolboxes to your tastes, or create new ones for
applications not listed above.

A version of hDC Power Toolboxes will be available at retail stores in the
future for a list price of $49.95. For a limited time, however, we are
making it available to bulletin board users for FREE!

All we ask is that you send us your feedback on the product. Fill out
the feedback form in FEEDBACK.WRI and mail it or fax it to hDC. Your
feedback is appreciated, and will be considered when we enhance
Power Toolboxes.

We are also running a contest for the best toolboxes! Send in your
favorite to Department PT at hDC; if we use it in a future version of Power
Toolboxes or Power Launcher, we will send you a free copy of that product.

The files needed to run hDC Power Toolboxes are in a file called
PWRTBOX.ZIP. In addition, you may need a file named HDCxxx.ZIP.

Here's how to install hDC Power Toolboxes.

    1. hDC Power Toolboxes will require approximately 1.2 MB of disk
space. Make sure you have at least this much space before you start.

    2. Ensure you have a new enough version of MICROMAN.EXE and
HDCLIB.DLL. To see what version you currently have, type "microman -d"
at the DOS prompt. You should get a message indicating the version of
MicroMan and hDCLib that you have on your computer. If you get "Bad
command or filename", or if the MicroMan version is less than 0x0210,
or the hDCLib version is less than 0x0315, then you need a newer
    version of these files.

To get the latest versions of MicroMan and hDCLib, look for a file
called HDCxxx.ZIP (where xxx is a version number which is at least
    315) in the place where you got this file.	If you can not find this
file, it can be downloaded from the hDC bulletin board at 206.869.2418
(2400 baud, 8,n,1) or you can order it from hDC customer service at
206.885.5550 (for a $5 shipping and handling fee).

Once you get the new files, copy them over your old files.

        IMPORTANT
        ---------
        A. If you are already using MicroApp Manager and do not wish to
lose your system menu configuration and preferences such as the
MicroApp path, do NOT overwrite your existing MICROMAN.PRF file.

        B. If you're using an international language version of an hDC
product, please note that overwriting HDCLIB.DLL will cause some
error messages to appear in English instead of the language of the
international version. Your international product will not
        otherwise be affected.

        C. If you did not previously have a version of MicroApp Manager,
be sure to add the line "ma=microman.exe ^.ma" to the [Extensions]
        section of your WIN.INI file.

    3. If you are running Windows 3.0 (as opposed to Windows 3.1) then
you will need the following files: SHELL.DLL, COMMDLG.DLL, and
DDEML.DLL. Check your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory to see if you already
have a copy of these files. Many Windows 3.1 version applications
include them in their installation. If you do not have them, you may
order the Power Toolboxes disk with these files from hDC customer
service at 206.885.5550 (for a $5 shipping and handling fee).

    4. Put PWRTOOL.MA, PWRTOOL.HLP, PWRTOOL.PRF, and TBOX22.TBL in your
MicroApp directory (the directory containing your other hDC MicroApp
    files). Usually this is \WINDOWS\MICROAPP.

If this is the first hDC MicroApp you are using, we suggest you make a
\WINDOWS\MICROAPP directory and put these files in that directory.
Then run Windows, run MicroApp Manager, choose the Options command,
and add this directory to the MicroApp Path.

    5. If you want Power Toolbox to automatically run whenever you
run Windows, add "<path>\pwrtool.ma" to the "load=" line in your
WIN.INI file, where <path> is the full path name of directory
    containing PWRTOOL.MA.

After installing Power Toolboxes, start it by running "<path>\pwrtool.ma"
from your Windows shell (where <path> is the full path name of directory
containing PWRTOOL.MA), and use the File/Open command to open TBOX22.TBL.
Make sure the "Switch with App" option is enabled. Minimize the Power Toolbox
main window to activate the floating toolbox and you're all set! Be sure to
click on the first button in the floating toolbox (which says PUSH ME!) for
more information about Power Toolboxes.
