YA-NW and Nostradamus Forecasting the future is difficult. Guessing is easy. Here are some guesses (in no particular order) about what future versions of Yet Another NewsWatcher may bring. 1) An "All Filters" window displaying the currently defined filtered groups in a top pane and the corresponding filters in a lower pane. It will be possible to specify matching criteria for the group name. For example, you could define a with "Group name starts with" "comp.sys.mac" filter that would apply to all the comp.sys.mac groups. 2) "Real" message threading (whatever that is). 3) Automatic highlighting of opened article as a preference. Also a menu command will be added "Mark article as interesting" 4) Thread manager support, and the ability to have multiple news fetching operations going on at the same time. 5) Support for detecting and decoding (via a seperate helper application) base64 encoded binaries. 6) Full MIME support. 7) Full email support (sending and receiving), with mailboxes handled in a manner similar to group windows. 8) PGP support (which really requires #6 to be useful, though it might also add to the anonymous remailer support.
