Internet Safariš v1.0 Released December 21, 1994 READ ME FIRST MHS Productions Present The Internet Safariš Version 1.0 for Apple Macintosh Computers December 1, 1994 What Is The Internet Safari? The Internet Safari is an Interactive Multimedia Presentation developed by students at the Bloomfield Hills Model High School to help students and educators understand the Internet. This presentation includes sections highlighting: What is the Internet, Internet tools, Internet resources, and How we use the Internet. This project was developed over an eight month time period by three students at the Bloomfield Hills Model High School. You will find over 50 resources spotlighted in the Safari. Resources include Business, Educational, Computer, Fun & Games, and Other resources. This project is geared toward the beginning users as well as advanced users. The look and feel of this product is a clickable button format found in most CD-ROM based products. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS This tutorial will run on any color Macintosh which is capable of display 256 colors. To run the Internet safari you will need: -A Macintosh II, LC, Quadra, Centris, or PowerPC series computer -8-bit color and any color monitor (14" minimum) -System 6.05 or 7.x -Approximately 40 MB of disk space -4 MB RAM is recommended -Internet connectivity and software that does file transfers via FTP. Install Instructions After downloading the Internet Safari, you will need to decompress the files (they have been compressed to save space and decrease transfer times) so that you can use them. We have distributed the Internet Safari as a self-extracting Compact Pro archive, which means that the program that decompresses the files is built into the compressed file. To begin decompressing the files, simply double click the archive. You will be prompted to select a destination Folder. We recommend you place the safari on a local hard drive. Next, you will see a time bar on your screen showing the progress of the decompression mechanism. Decompression will take awhile, (usually around 5-15 minutes, depending on your computer) so you can read on or take a break while the computer decompresses the Safari. The decompression process is fully automatic, so you don't need to worry about being there while it's happening. Once you have the Safari decompressed, you will see a Folder on your hard drive labeled, "Safari" There are several files inside this folder. To load the Internet Safariš double click on the Icon labeled "Internet Safari v1.0". It will take a few seconds for the opening to load. Once the opening has loaded, you will see our opening animation, followed by our title screen and then you will get the Internet Safari main menu. The main menu has a picture on it with a beach umbrella and chair. From the main menu you can choose any of the six buttons: What is the Internet? Internet Tools Internet Resources How we use the Internet About MHS Credits DISTRIBUTION You may copy and distribute the Internet Safari without charge.
