Damn! Here I was rejoicing in the thought that my (buggy) Split Screen mod was destined for "official" immortality. Hehe, the "bugs" are worse in the PCT-365 version than in my PC3SC.MRG version. Oh well..... - Wes #: 43579 Sec. 0 - General Information Sb: #43409-PC-TALK III ADVICE 07-Jun-84 00:01:17 Fm: Jim Gainsley 70346,457 To: Wes Meier (SysOp) 70215,1017 Wes: I did the PCT365 and the code is exactly yours just merged in. The only extension I made was to provide an auto clear for the msg line. Didn't make any other changes, cuz I didn't find any problems to correct, works great. Also, Headlands did preview it before I upld it to any BBS. #: 43596 Sec. 5 - Communications Sb: PC-TALK III ADVICE 07-Jun-84 02:26:00 Fm: Jim Gainsley 70346,457 To: Tim Colling Sorry for any confusion Tim. PCT365.MRG is simply a collection of various .MRG files in the PD for this program plus some of my own work. In doing this I liked and followed the lead of John Chapmen in his PCT36.MRG i.e. a sufficiently large number of changes in MRG form is given a higher version number. Note the file is .MRG file and not a complete program. Headlands did preview the PCT365 and accompanying .DOC rev. file prior to my uplg it to BBS's. I asked them to do this, since I altered their logon screen, and simply was also interested in their opinion, which was favorable. BUT, I didn't and don't mean to imply anything 'official' about it. The only significant problem with it follows from the fact that it doesn't consider the DTR requirement of the 1200B internal Hayes. (In May, Hayes did release another ver of the 1200B, which has the switches. Dan Frank wrote a good mod called FIX365.MRG which fixes the code causing a disconnect when the 1200B is used, when in the XMODEM module (PCT365 incorporates a .MRG mod that auto changes to 8N1 and back again after xfer). However, it doesn't correct for the Alt-P module, which will still cause a disconnect for the 1200B. A hardware fix called 1200BDTR.FIX is out which will disable the 1200B's DTR requirement altogether. (After having upld the PCT365 and then finding out about the 1200B DTR problem of which I was unaware, I built a .LBR file which contains these two fix files alonalong with the others in the PCT365 series. The reason I didn't simply mrg Frank's file in was because it didn't solve the whole problem i.e. in the Alt-P module. And, cuz many will have the new 1200B which doesn't suffer from the problem.) How's that for a long paragraph! I'd be interested in knowing of any bugs you found in the splitscreen or otherwise. I've been playing the new CIS XMODEM facility called XFILTR in the PER. I've used the PCT365.LBR (CIS requires that it be called PCT365.BIN) and right now it's made it as far as ACCESS. We'll see if it gets here. It's 330 blocks and took about 20 minutes with CIS's current beta implementation. But that's another story.
