Hounded Editor is made for modifying the data of the dogs. With Editor you can
transfer dogs into your game for example from your friends. You need at least
one saved game for using the editor. Modifications are made to your saved
game. After finishing your editor session start Hounded and load the saved
game that you used with Editor.


                             HOW TO START EDITOR
                             -------------------

In order to use Editor load EDITOR.EXE. In same directory there should also be
one saved game (SAVE?.HOU) and a file called DATA.HOU or RESERVE.HOU. If
RESERVE.HOU is not available program searches for DATA.HOU. If DATA.HOU is
also missing, editor displays an error message.


                                THE MAIN MENU
                                -------------

After loading a game you will see THE MAIN MENU. You will have to choose one
function by pressing a number key between 1 and 5.


                                1. CHANGE DATA
                                --------------

After pressing number 1 in THE MAIN MENU you see the list of the dogs. The
dogs that have number between 1-32 are dogs from your saved game. The dogs
that have number from 33 to 64 are dogs from file RESERVE.HOU. Type the number
of the dog whose data you want to modify. If you pressed Esc, you are back in
THE MAIN MENU. After having typed the number you see the data of the dog you
selected. If you do not understand everything you see, read HOUNDED.TXT. If
you want to go back to THE MAIN MENU, type exit. In order to change something,
type a number between 1 and 12. After entering the number you type the new
value. There are few things you should know:

 NAME:
 - maximum length is 20 characters, minimum length is 1 character
 - you should type the name in UPPER CASE because all the names in the game
   are in upper case

 OWNER
 - if the number of the dog is 33 or higher, the change is not permanent. When
   you load or save game the owner of these dogs will be D.O.G. SYNDICATE

 TRACK SENSE & FITNESS
 - range: 1-99 (percent)

 VALUE
 - range: $1-$9999999

 WINS, 2ND OR 3RD PLACES, UNPLACED
 - range: 0-9999

 CUP WINS
 - range: from 0 to X
   - X <= WINS and X <= RUNS/3

 BEST TIME
 - range: 1.00-99.99 seconds

If you give very big numbers to WINS, 2ND ..., UNPLACED and CUP WINS, the dog
can be worse than you expected.

                                 2. SWAP DOGS
                                 ------------

After pressing number 2 in THE MAIN MENU you see the list of the dogs. In the
bottom of the screen there is a text that asks you to give the number of a
dog. The number must be between 1 and 32. You can type exit to return to THE
MAIN MENU. After typing the first number you must type number between 33 and
64. After typing both the numbers the dogs exchange their places.


                                 3. LOAD GAME
                                 ------------

LOAD GAME works same way as in Hounded except you are not asked if you typed
the number correct. Read HOUNDED.TXT for more information.


                                 4. SAVE GAME
                                 ------------

SAVE GAME works almost same way as in Hounded except you are not able to
return to THE MAIN MENU by pressing Esc when you are typing the name of the
saving. Read HOUNDED.TXT for more information. RESERVE.HOU is also saved here.


                                   5. QUIT
                                   -------

Press Shift and number 5 (not from the keypad) simultaneously if you want to
quit. Remember to save your game before exiting the Editor because nothing is
saved here.
