1. Description

This is the Freeware version of the SecureExplore program.
SecureExplore extends the Win95/98 and NT Shell with encryption capabilities.
It enables a user (or group of users) to encrypt sensitive information
so that no one else may access it. The Freeware version contains most of
the functionality that the Shareware version has except for on-line help,
export of certificates to be used on other computers as well as other small
enhancements.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Install

To install the SecureExplorer simply double click on the SecureExplore.exe
file from the Explorer and run the setup program.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Word of Caution

In the Shareware version of the SecureExplore you can export a certificate
and save it on disk, so that if a disk crash occurs you can reload that
key and decrypt the files on another computer. In this Freeware version
this feature is disabled. Also, remember that if you accidentally delete
a certificate and don't have it saved (available in the Shareware version only)
you and no one else (including the author of this program) should be able to decrypt
that file.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. First Usage

Run the SecureExplore Administration program and create a new certificate.

Start the Explorer and select one or more files that you wish to encrypt. Right
click and select encrypt from the context menu or select encrypt from the Explorer
File menu.

If you want to encrypt files in recursive sub directories or of a specific type,
simply use the find file tool from the Explorer and search for the files that
you wish to encrypt. Again select encrypt from the file or context menu.

When you want to decrypt the files select the files that you wish
to decrypt (extension '.sec') and select decrypt from the file or context menu.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Sharing Encrypted files with others or between computers

Available only in the Shareware version of the SecureExplore.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Version Control

Before installing a new version of the SecureExplore, we recommend that you
decrypt all the files encrypted with the previous version. If you however
forget to do so, the new version will inform you of what version of the
SecureExplore is needed to decrypt the file and you may download it from
http://www.globesoft.com.
