PVXL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Microsoft Excel 97.
Due to some of the features of PVXL, it is not compatible with 
previous versions of Microsoft Excel.


OVERVIEW
PVXL.xlt is a Microsoft Excel 97 template.  New files are a copy of the template, are 
given the .xls workbook extension and leave the template "as is."  While you can 
create a new workbook project by double clicking the template, I suggest that you 
place the PVXL.xlt template alongside your existing Excel 97 Template folders.  There 
are several ways to copy the PVXL.xlt into the Template folder.  I present one below.


INSTALLATION OF PVXLT.xlt into Template folder.

Here is one method for Windows 95.


1) Download a copy of PVXL.xlt and place it into a temporary folder.

2) Open up MS Excel 97 and select FILE then OPEN.

3) Navigate to the your temporary folder and select PVXL.xlt.

4) You will be prompted for a "password to open."

5) Enter your password and click OK.

6) From the FILE menu, select SAVE AS.

7) Locate and click the Options button in Save As dialog box.

8) Highlight and erase the "stars" in the Password to Open field.  

9) Leave the Password to Open "empty" or enter your own password.
 - If you enter a new password, you will have to use the new password any time
   you reopen PVXL.xlt.  I suggest that you leave it empty.

10) From the Save As dialog box, Select the SAVE IN menu (top left).

11) Navigate to the Templates folder for Microsoft Excel
 - My Templates folder is located in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates.  
 - Yours might be different.

12) Click the CREATE NEW FOLDER icon located on the menu bar of the Open dialog 
box.  (The folder icon with the "sprite" on the upper right corner.)

13) Name the new folder "PV Design." Click the OK button. Now PV Design is located 
with the Templates folder.

14) Double click and open the PV Design folder.

15) From the SAVE AS dialog box, click SAVE button. 

16) From the main Excel Menu bar select FILE, select CLOSE.

17) PVXL.xlt has been copied into your ...\Templates\PV Design folder and is 
available to you when you open up Excel 97.



CREATING A NEW PV DESIGN PROJECT FROM THE PVXL.XLT TEMPLATE

1) From the main Excel Menu bar select FILE, select NEW.

2) From the New dialog box select the file tab named PV Design.

3) Double click the PVXL.xlt icon.

4) A new file opens and will have the default name of PVXL1.xls.

5) From the main Excel Menu bar select FILE, select SAVE AS.

6) Within the Save As dialog box, select and edit FILE NAME. Give the file an 
appropriate name. (IE: RemoteHome.xls).  Make sure that the file retains the 
workbook (.xls) extension.

7) From the Save As dialog box, navigate to your favorite work folder, and select the 
SAVE button.

8) The new file is stored favorite work folder and RemoteHome.xls is available to you 
for designing and editing.  You may choose to protect the workbook and assign the 
project your own password.  Consult the help features of Excel 97 for details.
