NewPad is a text editor which was only designed to replace original Windows95 Notepad.
It is small and simple.
It has several useful features: open multiple documents, fonts management for
display and printer, page setup, search and replace etc. NewPad remembers settings (fonts,
windows size and positions) since last session.
It does not provide any splash screens, help menus (all necessary help topics are displayed
in a status bar) and standard tool bar.
No special installation required. Just copy Notepad.exe to your Windows95 directory and
run it. You can download smaller 'version' of NewPad (47,104 bytes). It is absolutely the same,
but smaller and little bit faster, and it requires file mfc42.dll and msvcrt.dll in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.

If you have a problem with opening files with long file names:

All you have to do is to associate your .txt extension with NewPad correctly. It is useful to know how to do it not only with NewPad, but with all other applications.
Now:

Go to "My Computer" -> open "View" menu -> click "Options" -> click File Types. You will see the list of all file types, registered on your computer.
Now find .txt extension (Probably the description of it will be "Text Document", but it is not important), double-click on it. You see a window called "Edit File Type" where all actions on this file type are listed. Select "Open" from the list and double-click it (if you do not have "Open" in the list, create it clicking "New" button). In area "Application used to perform action" type exactly C:\WINDOWS\NewPad.exe "%1" (or type another directory, where you placed NewPad, but anyway, do not forget to include "%1" at the end). Click OK. That is it!
If you want to print .txt files using NewPad automatically (without opening it) add "print" action and write C:\WINDOWS\NewPad.exe /p "%1" in area "Application used to perform action". Now if you right-click on any .txt file you will see "Print" option. Click on it and file will be printed by NewPad without opening it.
You can associate other file extensions with NewPad exactly the same way (i did it with .log .ini .bat .lst .me files, but be careful because option "Open" associated with this types could perform different action, for example "Open" .bat file means "run" it. In this case add "Edit" action to this file type and associate it with NewPad. Then if you right-click on this type of files you will see "Edit" option, click on it and file will be opened by NewPad for editing).
Clear enough? ;-)
If not, do not shy to ask.

Good luck!	Eugene.
