v2.00 Notes
------------------------

1. TrainLog was written in Visual Basic 5.0 and references
a Microsoft mdb database, called run.mdb. Later on, when your
database entries become numerous, and it is worthwhile to do
so, you can view and or manipulate the data with some other
program capable of handling Microsoft mdb format.

2. There are two menu options, Add Entry (with sub menu View
Log) and About.

Add Entry: To enter a new entry in the log you must first click
on Add New. The calender will appear, and you may select a date.
Use the two Duration sliders, (hr & min) to enter the duration of
your run. I realize some people like to enter distance as
well, but for now, please put distance into the "Details" box.
In the next release, I will give distance it's own input box and
it will be a separate field (column) in the database.

Details Box: It can accept only 255 characters. That is a pretty long
sentence. If you are in the habit of lengthy descriptions then this
version of the TrainingLog can't handle it. This paragraph, including this
	sentence is 245 characters long.

Type: I have entered types which I have deemed useful to myself.
Normal: Your everyday run, nothing special.

Speedwork: Generic term which can be used for generally running fast.

Race: A race! 5k, 10k, marathon, other distance.

Long: Long varies with runners. I think long is 10 miles or more. You have your own criteria.

Recovery: Typically follows long or speedwork. Easy, relaxed, very comfortable pace.

Hills: People do hill repeats to build leg strength.

Fartlek: Another loose term, just means speed work, but not measured usually. (eg. on a trail
run hard for 2 minutes, easy for 2, hard for 2 etc. )

Lactate Threshold: The point just before you become mainly anaerobic instead of aerobic.
10k race pace is considered LT.

VO2 Max: Hard speed work. The hardest your heart can pump, VO2 max refers to the rate of
oxygen consumption per unit volume of blood, per unit mass at this max heart rate.

When done entering data. Click on "Accept" and it is added to the log. Use the scroll bar arrows,
to go through the log. To add another entry click again on "Add New"

"Delete Current" removes the currently displayed entry.
"View Log" will take you to another window and show the entire Log.

Note for First Time Use: (known bug)
The database file "run.mdb" which TrainLog.exe references
comes with 4 entries. These serve just as an example. They may
be removed simply by clicking on "Delete Current". If you delete
all 4 entries, without having added at least one entry of your own,
TrainLog will give "Run Time Error: No current Record" and
terminate. This is a known bug and will be fixed with the next release.
Restart TrainLog and start adding new entries and you'll be fine.
If you add at least one entry and delete the four, you'll be OK, and
it won't crash.

Menu View Log:
Click on the "Execute" button to see the log entries.

The text box has an SQL query (Structured Query Language) which you
should ignore, unless you know SQL and want to do your own queries.
I have the radio buttons below to let you make this choice. I noticed
that if you type a non SQL query, or use incorrect syntax, you'll get
an error or kill the program depending on your machine. So generally
speaking, leave this alone. In the next release I'll make this robust.

Contact info:
1) I can be emailed at amink@cyberenet.net. I'll try to get back to you
ASAP, if you have any questions.. check the site
www.cyberenet.net/~amink/runlog/runlog.html for updates and bug fixes.
2) Updates. I'll make the installs smart enough to know whether you
have a previous version of TrainLog installed on your machine.
The reason this is important is that you don't want to spend time
putting in 6 months worth of entries and then while updating the
new version, it comes in and replaces your log with a new empty one.
It'll be smart enough to not do this, so have no fear of upgrading!
This applies to future releases after this one.
3) To uninstall your TrainLog go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs,
and click on Uninstall TrainLog.
