The CheckDate utility is an application written exclusively
for Microsoft Windows 95. CheckDate is a 32 bit application
and will NOT run under Windows 3.x. The sole function of
the CheckDate application is to run the Windows 95 Date/Time
Control Panel Applet if the current date/time is earlier
than the last known date/time. Each time CheckDate is run,
it reads the contents of a file (that it wrote the last time
it was run) to determine if the current date/time is earlier
than the last time it was run. If so, the Date/Time applet
is executed so the system date/time can be reset. If the
date is later than the last known time, CheckDate does
nothing. You wont even know it's there. The program is
intended to be put in the StartUp folder so that it gets
executed every time the system is started. This program was
written as a result of hearing my stepfather complain about
the system date/time getting reset whenever his system
crashed. As anyone who has had this problem knows, it can
cause serious problems if it is not detected.

Simply copy chkdate.exe to the startup folder to install it.
ChkDate must be run once (to get a starting time) before it
can detect an invalid date. ChkDate is not aware of Daylite
Savings Time, so if you run ChkDate within an hour of
"falling back" it will detect an invalid date, and start
the Date/Time Applet. (No big deal.)

This program has been tested on multiple machines and I
believe it to be bug and virus free. However, I do not
assume any liability that may occur by using this software.

CheckDate is a shareware product and can be registered using
the CompuServe Shareware Service as follows:

GO SAHREWARE
SELECT "Register Shareware"
When you get to the search dialog, SEARCH for registration
ID "9699"
Display the selected title
View the description
Select the Register option.

The registration fee is $10. (I would make it less if they
would let me.) By registering the software, you will let me
know you appreciate my work. The shareware version is the
only version, so registering will not get you a "registered
version". Registering will not get you anything, accept
that warm feeling of inner peace that you've been searching
for all your life. Even if you don't register, I hope you
will use, enjoy, and let me know if you like it. I would
also be happy to hear any suggestions you may have. If
anyone would like a Windows 3.1 version posted, let me know.

Thanks,
