The NoFloppy / FloppyOn combo is a compact DOS software utility
set that disables or re-enables the diskette drives on
DOS/Windows PCs.

From any DOS prompt, the command "NOFLOPPY" disables drives A &
B. The command "FLOPPYON" re-enables the drives. If the target
machine has only one disk drive, usually addressed as A:, these
utilities will still execute properly, simply ignoring the one
drive address that doesn't exist. The two complementary programs
are not TSRs. Any drive disabled using NoFloppy will remain
inoperative until the machine is rebooted, or the FloppyOn
utility is used.

This utility set is designed for use as a network security tool.
Typical use is in a network system or container login script,
using group memberships or other criteria to select which users
have their workstation disk drives deactivated. Since most users
don't normally have access to these login scripts, and can't
modify them, the system administrator can exert control over the
software entry and exit points internal to a network -- disk
drives on workstations. If users want to access the network, the
system administrator can render their drives inoperative for the
session. This obviously helps prevent loading unauthorized
software into the network, and conversely, unauthorized copying
of software/data from the network.

The NoFloppy / FloppyOn utility set is distributed on the "try it
before you buy it" concept, otherwise known as shareware. The
cost for a site license depends on the estimated number of
computers in the company or department covered by the license.
Our no-nonsense license is simple -- the cost is $1 per computer
the software is intended for use with. We don't expect the
customer to provide an exact count of the number of computers
which the software is used on, only to provide a reasonable
estimate.

Licensed users receive a copy of the utilities that "run
silently", with no copyright message, or "press any key to
continue" prompt. In addition, licensed users receive adjunct
utilities to disable/enable drive C:. We have found
special uses for such utilities in the networks we have managed
and supported.

For surface mail delivery (US/North America only), add $10 for
packaging and mailing costs. Users from other geographic regions
interested in surface mail delivery should contact us for

registered version of the software via email delivery, and save
the surface mailing costs. Email delivery to other internet
addresses is not available at this time.
