Part 1: System requirements
=====================================================================
Cerberus requires:
A computer fitted with a 80386 or more powerful processor.
Microsoft Windows 3.1, 3.11 or Windows for Workgroups.
At least 2 MB of ram.
About 2 Mb of free disk space for the program files.
A VGA or better graphics card.
A Windows compatible mouse is recommended.
Program Manager should be the default shell if you want to password protect
Program Manager groups.

It is assumed that you are familiar with the use of Windows and with Windows
programs.

Part 2: Software Installation Information
=====================================================================
IMPORTANT: Cerberus requires Microsoft Windows 3.1, 3.11 or Windows for
Workgroups.

To install Cerberus, use the Program Manager or File Manager to start
SETUP.EXE as you would any other Windows-based application. For example,
if you are installing from drive A:

- From the Program Manager File menu, choose Run.
- In the Run dialog box, type A:SETUP and choose OK.

  Or

- From the File Manager, double-click the SETUP.EXE file icon
  on drive A.

Both Cerberus and Cerberus File Manager Protection (CerberusFMP) will be
installed.

Part 3: Using Cerberus
=====================================================================
Once installed, Cerberus runs automatically when Windows is re-started.
To change the settings double click on the Cerberus icon. You will
be prompted to enter the Administrator's password. Once you have
entered the password you will be able to change the settings.

Examine the help files for both Cerberus and CerberusFMP for details of
setting up the programs.

Part 4: Default passwords
=====================================================================
The default password for Cerberus is admin
The default password for CerberusFMP is cerbfmp

Note that these cannot be changed in the evaluation version.

Part 5: Known problems

	disappear corrected.

[windows] section :
The line beginning run= will be modified to include cerberus.exe.

The following line will be added to the [Addons] section of WINFILE.INI:
cerberus=cerbfm.dll

Part 7: Removing Cerberus from your system
=====================================================================
Run the program UNINSTAL.EXE for automatic removal of Cerberus from your
machine. Use of Uninstal requires entry of the Administrator's password for
Cerberus.

If you want to remove Cerberus manually:

1. Delete all of the files listed above EXCEPT CTL3DV2.DLL as this is
   probably used by other applications.

2. Delete the associated Program Manager icons and, if required, the
   Program Manager group.

3. Using Notepad, or similar, open the file WIN.INI and edit the part
   of the line beginning
   	run=
   to remove the reference to Cerberus.
   For example, you may find
	run=c:\cerberus\cerberus.exe
   or something similar. In this case you would delete
	c:\cerberus\cerberus.exe
   to leave
	run=
4. Edit the file SYSTEM.INI to remove the line
	device=vrbtd.386
5. Edit the file WINFILE.INI to remove the line
	cerberus=cerbfm.dll

Cerberus is now removed from your system
