Welcome to Archivers v3.0!

New in Version 3.0:
We have completely updated the Archivers user interface by taking
most of the file utility functions off of the main form and creating
a more comprehensive sub-program called Echo-On. We have also added
a multi-select function for choosing files, and we have added a small zip
file viewing utility which allows you to view the contents of your
zip file, add comments to files within your zip file, and extract
selected files without unzipping the entire file.

The Archivers program is a full service archiving and unarchiving
user interface. The Archivers window allows you to compress and
uncompress files, using three of the major compression programs
plus Microsoft's Compress and Expand programs. In addition to its
compression and uncompression functions, Archivers also offers a
complete file management system; allowing you to create directories,
delete directories, copy and move files, search for files, view and
execute files, and rearrange your Windows items and groups - all
directly from the Archivers window.

To load Archivers onto your system, go to the File menu of your
Windows Program Manager and choose Run. Choose the Archivers
setup.exe file from the directory or disk and click on OK. The
setup program will load all the necessary files onto your system
and create a Windows program group for Archivers.

In order for this program to run properly, you will also need to
have the the following archiving utilities fully extracted in a
directory which is located in your path:

For the PKZip program,PKZ204G.EXE;
For the ARJ program, ARJ239.EXE;
For the LHA program, LHA212.EXE.
(the EXE filename may depend on the version of the program.).

From PKZ204g.exe, Archivers uses Pkzip.exe, Pkunzip.exe, Pkzipfix.exe,
and Zip2exe.exe.
From Arj239.exe all you will need is Arj.exe.
From Lha212.exe lha.exe is all that is needed.

Please ensure these files are in your path. These files are not
furnished as part of the Archivers Program. They can be obtained
from most online services or BBSs.

You also need to have the VBRUN300.DLL and THREED.VBX files in your
Windows\System directory in order for Archivers to run properly.

After unzipping the Archiver.zip file, you should see the following
files:

Setup will install all of the .pif and .bat files into your Windows
directory, along with the compress and expand .exe files. All .dll
and .vbx files will be installed into your windows\system directory.
And the setup program will create an Archivers directory which will
contain the archiver .exe and .hlp files along with the readme.wri.
If you ever want to uninstall Archivers, all you need to do is remove
all of these files from your system. No changes are made to your
autoexec.bat file or any .ini file on your system.

Archivers may be distributed freely, as long as no fee is charged
for the distribution and all of the files listed above are included
with the program, but it may in no way be bundled with or included
into another program without obtaining prior written permission
from the author.
