Cards 2.0 -- Installation instructions

1. Create a directory for the program on your hard drive and
copy the self extracting file (homecard.exe) to it.

2. Extract the program and help file by running homecard.exe.
This will make three files in the program directory: cards.exe,
cards.hlp, and readme.txt. homecard.exe can now be deleted from
your hard drive.

3. Make a program item using the program manager. Put the name
of the program, cards.exe, on the command line. Optionally,
make a help icon using the program manager and the help file,
cards.hlp.

4. After running Cards and saving your first data file, you
can set up the Cards program item to read the same file each time
it is executed. Use the Program manager "Properties" command to
put the data file name after the program name (cards.exe). Be
sure to leave a blank between the program name and the file name.
Putting the file name after the program name will cause the
data file to be opened automatically when Cards is executed.

This version of the program has three new features, groups
of entries, dated fields, and date last modified for each
entry. Refer to the on-line help for more information about
these features. Files from earlier versions of Cards are read
by this version of Cards, but once they are written back to
disk by Cards 2.0, they can only be read by Cards 2.0. When
a file from an earlier version of Cards is read, the date
last modified for each entry is set to the current time and
date.

Known problem: Setting the paper size for non-standard impact
printer forms does not work. The same code works fine for
Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups. Printing on 11 inch
impact printer label forms works OK.

Please send bug reports, and suggestions for new features to
Compuserve User ID 72064,1437. I don't log on to Compuserve on
a regular basis, so please be patient if I don't get back to
you right away.
