To install this program, type INSTALL and press ENTER. The
installation program will guide you with prompts. Your
CONFIG.SYS file may need FILES=30 and BUFFERS=20 in it.
(However, HORSES will run on a Tandy 1000HX with FILES=23 and
BUFFERS=17.) If you have to change the CONFIG.SYS file, you may
have to reboot your computer for it to take effect. Some Tandys
and some IBM PS models require you to run a separate program
which came with your computer to change your CONFIG.SYS file.
Earlier DOS versions won't properly install HORSES. Another way
to install the program is to copy STABLE.SEM to, e.g., C:\HORSES
on your hard disk, or at least a 720K disk, type in the command
REN STABLE.SEM STABLE.EXE, press ENTER. Type STABLE, press ENTER
and the program will unarchive. Type HORSES and press ENTER to
start the program. MANUAL.DOC is included in a compressed format
on this disk in the file STABLE.SEM. To print the manual after
you have installed the program, when you are in DOS, type
PRN_MAN, then press ENTER while you are in the subdirectory where
the HORSES program is installed. If you have trouble seeing all
the menus, etc. on a monochrome monitor, try the command MODE BW
80 before you run the program; this will run HORSES in black and
white.
