 Technical Information
;

Job 53 was created on a 486/66 with SB-16 ASP MCD soundcard between 19th and
26th of March 1995. This is the second Bolleke module with *NO* ripped
samples. 100% of the samples were created by myself and none were ripped from
other modules. Use them if you like them !

This is the third module I have created using the ST 3.2 Panning command.
This command really helps me out in saving channel space. It is possible
to play this module in a background DOS window under OS/2 Warp without
having too much distorsions from running other programs. I was glad DMP 4.00
came out this week, though I think DMP/32 4.00 has still some bugs in it :
when I start DMP/32 I get continuously clicks from my SB, although there is
nothing playing yet. These clicks continue while playing the module. DMP 4.00
for DOS works just fine. I haven't tested whether it works in an OS/2 DOS
session yet ... Anyway, the module sounds as I want it if you play it with
DMP 3.01 or higher. DPP 2.1 is fine, too, just like Cubic Player 0.95beta
which I got from my friend Petador yesterday. If this is a beta, I sure
want to see the final release version ! Hopefully, it is possible there to
set the effects from the player itself and not by having a DOS environlment
variable set. IPlay 1.21 still has NO panning support, unfortunately. What's
all this about IPlay Assembly '94 edition being infected with a virus ???

I also tried out ST 3.21 when I found it last week. It seems to me the bug
spoken of in the documentation is fixed, for a GUS that is ... A SB-16
has no on board memory, so every time when I wanted to check out an instrument
from the F3 instrument library window, I got the pretty annoying message "No
GUS memory left (0K free)". It really got on my nerves, so I took back my
good old ST 3.01 and downloaded ST 3.21 again, yesterday.

All samples were sampled with Creative Wavestudio and Creative Ensemble CD
as 16bit samples at 44100kHz, exported to 8bit samples at a sampling rate
as high as possible to get a sample shorter than 64000 kB in the VOC format.
This was then imported in ST 3.2. Maybe I should try to import them as RAW
data files instead of VOC. I've been told that ST 3.2 does not strip of VOC
and WAV header data which results in clicks ....

These samples are (c) by Bolleke. Feel free to use them, I'd like to be
given credit or greetz in your module :)

 Background Information
;

This module is the seventh in a series about the many different jobs on the
refinery. Together they will constitute a music disk, called 'FinaDisk 1995'
which will be released at the end of the year, containing all modules I
will create during this year and my stay at Fina.

Job 53 is the Atmospheric Crude Destillation Unit. It separates the different
compounds present in a raw crude petroleum oil into different fractions with
a different boiling range in a distillation tower. This diference in boiling
range is the principle of distillation. The products from the CDU are : gas,
straight-run naphta, kerosene, gas-oil, heavy gas-oil and atmospheric residue.
Gas is seperated to produce LPG and gasoline. The other fractions are mainly
used to produce car fuels by converting them in one of the other units.

If you get all my FinaDisk files, you will know in the end how a refinery
workd !
