Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1562-1621) is reputed to have
been a major contributor to the N European choral &
instrumental music of the period bridging the RENAISSANCE &
the Baroque. The pieces represented here are those which
seem to have been written by Sweelinck for either organ or
various other types of keyboard instruments (clavichords,
virginals, clavicembalos, harpsichords, spinets or
whatever). I've tried to stay away from pieces or parts
that seem to have been written by others, some of whom may
have been students of Sweelinck. A bracketed question mark
after the name of the piece indicates some question as to
its authenticity. The printed scores are in "Works for
Organ and Keyboard: Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck" published by
Dover Publications, Inc. If you find any errors in the
transcriptions, I'd appreciate your notifying me at the
address given below.

The contents are as follows:

The "organ stops" were developed with Ad Lib's Instrument
Maker v. 1.11 & are in a directory entitled INS. My
suggestion would be to load the INS files into a specially
made directory on your hard disc. YOU MUST HAVE A COMPUTER
MUSIC SYSTEM WITH SYNTHESIZER TO REALIZE THE MUSIC FROM THIS
INFO. Rumor has it that these files can be played by other
computer music systems than Ad Lib, but I've no personal
experience with them.

The music files are all under the extension, .ROL, and the
numbering schema follows the list of contents. Ad Lib's
Visual Composer v. 1.25 was used for the transcriptions. I
strongly suggest the use of high quality speakers or headset
& appropriate electronics for auditing this material.
If you wish to contact me about problems or about my
interpretations (or, as mentioned above, corrections in the
transcriptions) you may write to me at the following address
(as of 1992):

Roy V. Childs
17421 69th Ave., S.E.
Snohomish, WA 98290-8359

I'm much more inclined to respond if you send an envelope
with your name and address and correct US postage on it.

IN THE USA ONLY--I can supply any of the pieces recorded on
90 minute analog audio cassette tapes with your choice of
Dolby B or C noise reduction (or none) complete with
ambience effects appropriate to a cathedral environment for
$10 postpaid per tape. The timings of each piece are given
in minutes and decimal fractions, not minutes and seconds.
Be certain to give the numbers (for instance, 44.ROL) of the
pieces you desire on the tape and give enough time for there
to be about .17 minute between selection. Please give the
information legibly and enclose either $10 cash or money
order for each tape ordered.
