95 KEYBOARD WORKS BY JOHANN PACHELBEL (1653-1706)

Some years ago the Canon in D was the major contributor to
the general public's awareness of Pachelbel's existence as a
composer-of-note (pun intended) "way back when".

Pachelbel was a major keyboard composer during the late 17th
century & was undoubtedly of some influence on J.S. Bach.
These pieces are all fugues written (while Pachelbel was
organist of St. Sebald in Nuremburg from 1695 till his
death) as preludes to establish pitch for the singers of the
Magnificat. There are eight groups, each representing the
then contemporary equivalent of the eight modes of
plainchant. All the pieces are represented in this
collection by number with the 1st digit standing for the
number of the group. Thus, 512.ROL is the 12th fugue based
on the 5th tone.

Like my earlier attempts with the Bach & Sweelinck
transcriptions, this collection attempts to make the AdLib
computer music system sound like an organ rather than a
synthesizer. I strongly urge the use of high-quality
transducers & associated electronics. For a price I will
make audio tapes of this music, as well as the previous
collections, available. On these tapes the output of the
synthesizer will be processed by an Alesis QuadraVerb to
provide cathedral-like reverberation. The QuadraVerb is a
very high quality, extremely programmable, digital unit so
that the reverberation, while quite realistic, will be
adjusted to not confuse the music which so often happens
with recordings of real organ music in real acoustic
environments.

I've hear rumors of a certain compatibility between AdLib &
something called Soundblaster; I have had no experience with
the latter & can therefor be of no help if you have problems
with it.

These transcriptions were done using AdLib's Visual Composer
v. 1.25 & Instrument Maker v. 1.11, both purchased in 1988.

Along with the ___.ROL files there's an \INS directory with
all of the instrument files. If you are familiar with the
AdLib software, this should be enough information to allow
your use of these files.
