                  OVERVIEW
=============================================

Lottery fever has struck everywhere! From
Canada to Texas, California to New York,
people are purchasing record numbers of
lottery tickets!

The most popular of the bunch are Lotto-type
games. These are games in which 5 or 6
numbers out of maybe 40 or 50 are selected
by the individual. Payouts are based on a
pari-mutuel basis, usually with a guaranteed
jackpot amount. And oh what jackpots! Top
jackpots have exceeded $40 million dollars on
numerous occasions in the U.S. and have
reached $20 million tax-free in Canada!!
With payouts so large it is easy to see why
"Lotto Fever" has hit.

Lotto Picker is an aid to playing not only
Lotto-type games, but also Daily 3-digit and
4-digit number games, as well as the new
Keno-style lotteries.

By giving you the ability to enter past
winning numbers, Lotto Picker can apply
probability analysis to its selections. The
result is a three option approach , one of
which should match your individual
preference for selection criteria. The
choices are: 1) The Monte Carlo Approach
which uses the same random, unbiased
selection process that the State Lottery
Commissions use themselves, or 2) Hot Number
Approach which weights the selections based
upon the most frequently occurring numbers,
and finally 3) Cool But Due Approach which
selects those numbers which haven't occurred
as frequently and therefore may
statistically be due.

You can have Lotto Picker print out its
selections, or you can copy them from the
screen - your choice. What's more, it knows
the characteristics of all of the most
popular games in North America. All you do
is select the game you are interested in and
away you go! Or you may customize Lotto
Picker to play any type of game. This program
will never become obsolete and its ease of
operation and versatility will help you "go
for the gold" and perhaps enable you to
become the next "Lotto Millionaire!!!!"

=============================================
HOW TO BEST USE THE RESULTS
=============================================

To maximize your use of the Lotto Picker it is
recommended that the following items be
observed:

1) You should read and fully understand the
software license agreement and warranty of
performance at the beginning of this manual
before using the program.

2) There is no hard evidence to suggest
whether it is preferable to play the same set
of numbers for an extended period of time or
whether to play new numbers each week. Our
unscientific choice is to stick with the same
set of numbers for awhile simply because we
do not like to fill out new input tickets
each week.

3) We believe that the Monte Carlo approach
gives you the best opportunity for
approaching the true lottery odds. However
we know a whole bunch of you believe that you
can improve your odds by weighting your
selections towards either the hot or cold
numbers. C'est la Vie!

4) Never wager what you cannot afford to
lose. Assume every wager you make is a loser
and write the price of making these wagers
off to its entertainment value and therefore
non-recoverable (much like the admission
price to the movies). If you win then
consider it found money, or the icing on the
cake.

5) If you are a winner using Lotto Picker -
give us a call or drop us a line and tell us
about it. We may give you national exposure
in an advertising campaign. Have fun and
good luck!!!!

6) Copy this program and give it to a friend.

7) REGISTER NOW and receive either an
enhanced commercial version of this program,
Lotto Picker Plus, or the best lottery
selection program on the market today - Lotto
Picker 3 for DOS with wheeling, frequency
reporting, and an all-new user interface!

=============================================
         A TOUR THROUGH THE PROGRAM
=============================================

After greeting you with its logo screen,
Lotto Picker brings you to its Main Menu and
gives you the following choices:

                A) Generate Numbers

                B) Update Databases

                C) Change Directory

                X) Quit

GENERATE NUMBERS - Outputs the numbers to
play.

CHANGE DIRECTORY - Allows you to read/write
your datafiles from other than the defaulted
drive.

UPDATE DATABASES - Enters the database
maintenance module which is where you input
the winning numbers (discussed in a later
chapter).

QUIT - Exits the program.
              GENERATE NUMBERS

MENU OF GAMES
Lotto Picker will display the various type of
games you can play as follows:

              A) Lotto or Keno
              B) 3-Digit Game
              C) 4-Digit Game

Choose ==> B or ==> C to play the Pick 3 and
Pick 4 games respectively. These games
differ from Lotto or Keno games because they
select digits only from 0-9 and will pick the
same digit more than once.

Choose ==> A to set-up a Lotto or Keno game.
You will be asked to respond to a series of
screen prompts as follows:

    INPUT STATE NAME?

Enter the name of the State game you are
describing. The first six characters of the
name will be used as the datafile name for
this games database. Please insure that the
first 6 characters adhere to all of your DOS
rules for file naming. Some generic
standards that will keep you out of trouble
are: 1) start the name with a letter; 2) use
all capitals; 3) make sure the name is at
least 6 characters long; 4) insure that there
are no spaces within the first 6 characters;
and 5) use only letters & numbers, no
punctuations, in the first six characters.
Also, if you will be maintaining databases
for more than one game you must make sure
that each datafile has separate and unique
names.

HOW MANY NUMBERS DO YOU PICK?

Enter the amount of numbers that you are
required to select in order to play this game
(maximum = 11). Do NOT try to adjust this
number in order to compensate for a bonus
number that is drawn - only define the amount
of numbers you circle on the Lotto cards.

   HIGHEST NUMBER DRAWN?

Enter the highest number that may be drawn
for this game (maximum = 99).

   HOW MANY BONUS NUMBERS?

Enter the amount of bonus numbers that are
drawn each game. This amount is in addition
to the amount of numbers that you are
requested to select. If no bonus numbers are
drawn enter ==> 0. Please note that the sum
of the 'Numbers You Pick' and the 'Bonus
Numbers' may not exceed 11. For some
Keno-style games the amount of numbers drawn
greatly exceeds the amount of numbers you
pick, and the total of the two may exceed 11.
See our Keno tip below.

**IMPORTANT** After your game has been set
up it will be automatically saved as the new
default game by the program. This way you do
not have to enter this routine again unless
you wish to change the game. If you do, when
prompted to SELECT ANOTHER GAME (Y/N) answer
==> Y. When trying to play a game that is not
the default game you must answer all the
prompts all over again being especially
careful that the first 6 characters are
exactly the same as you had used when this
game was first defined.

**KENO TIP** If your Keno game runs similar
to the New York Win-10 game (you pick 10, the
State draws 20) you are probably confused
about how to proceed. Fear not, we'll show
you how to overcome the 11 number limit Lotto
Picker imposes.
These type of Keno games are problems because
you are asked to select a much smaller amount
of numbers then is actually chosen. If you
try to set this game up as having 10 bonus
numbers in addition to the 10 you pick, for a
total of 20, Lotto Picker won't let you do it
(you Pennsylvanians who play Lucky 7, 7 you
pick, 11 they draw (4 bonus numbers) can skip
this discussion and move on to the next
section). We overcome this problem by setting
this game up as 10 out of 80 (highest number
drawn) with 0 bonus numbers. There will be no
problems when generating numbers, 10 will
correctly generate. The trickery is required
when updating your database. The program
will allow you to input only 10 numbers. So
what do you do? Simply input the 20 numbers
drawn as 2 separate 10 number records! The
statistics will be unaffected and the program
will work fine. Similar problem Keno games
may be resolved along the same lines.

Everyone will then receive the following
prompt:

HOW MANY PLAYS DO YOU FANCY?

Enter the number of selections/combinations
that you wish Lotto Picker to come up with
(200 maximum per cycle).

HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR NUMBERS? MENU

If a database has been set up for the game
chosen you will now be whisked into the menu
that sets Lotto Picker apart from its
competition -- the probability preference
menu (we call it "How Do You Like Your
Numbers?"). If not, you will see the OUTPUT
CONTROL MENU described on the next page. The
choices for this menu are:

             A) SCRAMBLED

             B) SUNNY SIDE UP

             C) HARD BOILED

SCRAMBLED - This choice engages the Monte
Carlo approach to number selections,
otherwise known as random output. It is the
defaulted choice if a historical database has
                    -12-
=============================================
         A TOUR THROUGH THE PROGRAM
=============================================

NOT been set up for the game at hand. The
next chapter, "Database Maintenance", will
explain how to create and update these
databases.

SUNNY SIDE UP - This choice accesses the
historical database for the game at hand and
weights its output selections towards the
most frequently represented numbers. One
important note, the fewer the entries in the
database, the less varied will be the output
result. NOTE: A single entry in the database
will result in a single output pattern.

HARD BOILED - This choice accesses the
historical database and weights its
selections towards the least frequently
selected numbers.

**TIP** Lotto Picker searches for and writes
its database files to the default disk drive
directory. If you encounter any difficulties
in locating existing database files make sure
that your DEFAULT drive and directory is the
one that contains your database files. To
change your default drive choose option ==>C
from the Main Menu.

                 RUN PROGRAM

MENU OF GAMES
Lotto Picker will now display the various
games it has programmed into its memory.
These include U.S. State Lotto games, the
Canadian Lottery, and 3 & 4-digit number
games. To choose any one of the games
simply press the letter that precedes the
game. If you wish to customize your own
game or play Keno-style games such as New
Yorks Pick-10 press ==> X for "Other Lotto".
Lotto Picker will "remember" any game you
select and automatically default to that game
upon start-up. You can, of course, always
choose another game even when a default is
specified. Screen prompts will guide you.

The first group of menu selections represent
pre-defined State and Canadian Lotto games.
These selections are grouped according to
game characteristics.

The last two selections from the menu, 3 and
4-Digit Number Games, choose combinations of
numbers ranging from 0 to 9 and can pick the
same digit more than once.

If you wish to play a Lotto game that has not
been pre-defined or wish to play Keno-style
games then simply choose "Other Lotto" from
the menu. This selection produces the
following prompts:

    INPUT STATE NAME?

Enter the name of the State game you are
describing. When using the database feature
it is important that the first 6 characters
of this name be unique or else PLUS may
confuse database records. If you are
running the program to output numbers then
the name is optional.

   HOW MANY NUMBERS PICKED?

Enter the amount of numbers that are to be
chosen for this game (maximum = 11).

   HIGHEST NUMBER SELECTED?

Enter the highest number that may be selected
for this game (maximum = 99).

Everyone will then receive the following
prompt:

HOW MANY PLAYS DO YOU FANCY?

Enter the number of selections/combinations
that you wish Lotto Picker to come up with.

HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR NUMBERS? MENU

If a database has been set up for the game
chosen you will now be whisked into the menu
that sets Lotto Picker apart from its
competition -- the probability preference
menu (we call it "How Do You Like Your
Numbers?"). If not, you will see the OUTPUT
CONTROL MENU described on the next page. The
choices for this menu are:

             A) SCRAMBLED

             B) SUNNY SIDE UP

             C) HARD BOILED

SCRAMBLED - This choice engages the Monte
Carlo approach to number selections,
otherwise known as random output. It is the
defaulted choice if a historical database has
NOT been set up for the game at hand. The
next chapter, "Database Maintenance", will
explain how to create and update these
databases.

SUNNY SIDE UP - This choice accesses the
historical database for the game at hand and
weights its output selections towards the
most frequently represented numbers. One
important note, the fewer the entries made
into this database, the less varied will be
the output result. For example, if only one
set of winning numbers was entered in the
database, say 1,2,3,4,5,6, the only output
you would get under this option is
1,2,3,4,5,6 since that is the only pattern
Lotto Picker can compare to.

HARD BOILED - This choice accesses the
historical database and weights its
selections towards the least frequently
selected numbers. As with the option above
the more historical data the more meaningful
the output.

**TIP** Lotto Picker searches for and writes
its database files to the default disk drive
directory. If you encounter any difficulties
in locating existing database files make sure
that your DEFAULT drive and directory is the
one that contains your database files.

             OUTPUT CONTROL MENU

At this point the Output Control Menu will
appear and the following options are
available:

Keyboard_Control_Only
Choose this option if you do not have, or do
not wish to use, a printer. Keyboard control
allows you to write down Lotto Picker
selections before the program chooses its
next set.

Printer_Output_Only
Choose this option when you want Lotto Picker
to quickly and automatically print its
selections.

Print_and_Keyboard_Control
This option allows you to send results one at
a time to your printer.

**MORE INFO** About Printing:
All printouts will be forwarded through the
LPT1 port (parallel printer port 1). If you
have a single parallel port and a printer
attached to it then no action is necessary on
your part other than making sure the printer
has been turned on. If, however, you have
more than one printer attached, or if your
printer is serial, you will have to
"redirect" the output of the printer which is
to receive the data to LPT1. The IBM DOS
guide explains this procedure under the
'MODE' function.

          AND THE NUMBERS PLEASE...

Lotto Picker now will automatically start to
run. At any time during execution you may
return to the Main Menu by pressing==>ESCape.
From here you may either end the program or
choose another option.

Good Luck and may the Jackpot be yours!

=============================================
            DATA BASE MAINTENANCE
=============================================

You reach this module by selecting UPDATE
DATABASES at the Main Menu.

What sets Lotto Picker apart from the
competition is its ability to store, analyze,
and apply probability analysis to its output
selections.

When first choosing the Update Database
option a game will be defined at the top of
your screen and a prompt, "Select Another
Game (Y/N)" will appear mid-screen. Answer
==> N if the game displayed is the one whose
database you wish to update. A ==> Y answer
will bring up the Menu of Games allowing you
to set-up a new datafile.

               DATABASES MENU

The following choices await you:

     A) Create/Append To This Database

     B) Delete This Database

     C) Edit This Database [Available only
        in Registered Versions!]

     R) Return To Main Menu

CREATE/APPEND - This option will allow you to
add records to an existing database file or
create a new one if it did not exist
previously. You will be prompted to 'INPUT
ONE GAMES WINNING NUMBERS' and this you will
do one at a time pressing ==> RETURN after
each number. Lotto Picker is looking for an
actual games winning sequence, and
therefore will not allow you to input the
same number twice (except for Pick 3/4
games).

When completed you are asked "IS THE ABOVE
CORRECT? (Y/N)". Finally you are asked if
you wish to "INPUT ANOTHER? (Y/N)". This
process continues until you answer ==> N to
this question.

** IMPORTANT ** The maximum number of past
drawings each database will hold is: PICK-3
= 60; PICK-4 = 45; LOTTO 6 = 35; LOTTO 7 =
28; KENO 11 = 18. When you have registered
your program you will be sent a commercial
version of the program that has 3X the above
datafile capacity. When creating a database
for the first time DO NOT go back further
then the above number of weeks and ALWAYS
INPUT THE OLDEST NUMBERS FIRST! Lotto Picker
will "scroll off" the oldest numbers in your
database when it is filled as new numbers are
being entered.

DELETE - By selecting this choice you are
telling Lotto Picker to destroy the database
for this game. To be certain that this is
what you wanted to do, PLUS will ask you to
confirm this choice.

EDIT - This choice will allow you to view
your database records one at a time and
change or delete them if so desired. Special
keys for use with this module will be
displayed in the middle of your screen.
** WARNING ** This feature is available only
in the commercial versions of the program
that are sent to REGISTERED USERS ONLY!

RETURN - Returns you to the Main Menu.
