EasyPage 1.0

EasyPage 1.0 is a very simple, and efficient program that will dial your digital pager after you have received a telephone call. Ideally, EasyPage can be used at your home office to alert you that you have a message on your telephone answering machine. Configuring EasyPage takes about 60 seconds to complete.

HARDWARE CONFIGURATION

It is recommended that you plug the telephone wire coming from your wall outlet into the LINE input on your modem. (any baud rate modem will work) Then run a cord from the modem input labeled PHONE to the input on your telephone answering machine labeled LINE. Then plug your phone into the telephone answering machine input labeled PHONE.

INSTALLATION

If you have received EasyPage as a compressed file, simply uncompress the file onto a floppy disk or a seperate directory on your hard disk.
Then simply click on INSTALL.EXE in File Manager, or type INSTALL.EXE
under RUN in Windows Program Manager to install. The installation takes about 10 seconds. The File that will start the program is C:\PAGER\PAGER.EXE.

PROGRAM CONFIGURATION

Once you have started the program, click on the CONFIGURE button. The configuration screen allows you to input the following information:

1. Number of Seconds to Wait Before Paging

This value allows you to choose how much time you will allow the caller to leave a message before EasyPage dials your pager. The default setting is 120 seconds. If you expect to receive fax transmissions on your telephone line, perhaps you will want to increase this value.

2. Pager Number

This is the number easy page will dial to access your digital pager. Some business telephone systems require you to dial a number such as 9 to access an outside line. Be sure to include the that number first, followed by a comma (i.e. 9,) if this is the case.

3. Callback Number

This is the number that will be displayed on your digital pager once you have been paged.

EasyPage has a default pause of 4 seconds following the dialing of your pager and the dialing of your callback number. This four seconds is usually enough time for the paging system to answer, and prepare to receive the callback number. However, depending on the type of paging system EasyPage is using, you may need to extend this 4 second pause. To accomplish this, simply insert a comma before your callback number for every second you would like to extend the pause. For example an additional 2 second pause would look like ,,123-4567.

4. Communications Port

This value tells EasyPage which communications port your modem is using. The default setting is Com 2.

5. Baud Rate

This value tells EasyPage what baud rate your Modem is operating at. Changing this setting from the default setting of 2400 Baud will not effect the operation of the program, but you may want to set it to your modems maximum baud rate anyway.

Following this, simply click on SAVE AND EXIT and EasyPage is ready to work.

OPERATION

Once you have configured EasyPage, you can test the configuration by clicking on the button labeled TEST. EasyPage will respond just as if an actual call had been received. Reconfigure EasyPage if necessary.

As EasyPage is a Windows program, you do not have to worry about damage to your computer screen while you are gone if you use Windows screen savers. However, you can simply turn off your computer screen as well.

When you return, you will find a Record of Calls received while you were out listing the time the calls were received as well.

I hope you enjoy EasyPage 1.0.
