Purpose: Log-it allows users a memory resident utility to maintain a
running log of users logging on and off of a DOS system. LOGIT-IT is a
TSR program.

Setup: DO NOT USE YOUR ORIGINAL VERSION OF LOG-IT AS IT WILL BE ALTERED
AFTER RUNNING THE SETUP PROGRAM. Log-it allows a maximum of 30 users
to have access to the system at one time. Build a text file using the
example file "DUMMY.TXT" provided in the Log-it archive. If you wish, you
may use the file DUMMY.TXT to put your entries in. That is the filename that
the setup program defaults to. Leave blank or at least put bogus entries in
the unused portions of the text file but THERE MUST BE 60 LINES IN THIS
FILE. The format for the file, as you will see, is:

NAME
password
NAME
password
NAME
password

and so on until 60 lines are occupied (hence 30 max users). After this
is accomplished, from DOS type "SETUPLOG filename.ext" where
"filename.ext" is the name of the file you created just like DUMMY.TXT.
SETUPLOG.EXE will then tailor LOG-IT.EXE to reflect the 30 users and
their passwords that you put in the "filename.ext" file. To change any
names or passwords you must only repeat the procedure. Ensure that
LOG-IT.EXE, SETUPLOG.EXE, and your "filename.exe" are ALL in the same
directory.

Usage: To use Log-it, simply type "LOG-IT filename.ext" from DOS (or
whatever you named it to... sometimes it's best to rename it for ease of
loading). When you want it to go into action, hit the Hot-Key combination
"ALT L". That's HOLD DOWN THE ALT KEY AND HIT THE "L" KEY. To unload Log-it
from memory, simply type UNLOAD at the "logon" prompt. The "filename.ext"
after the LOG-IT is as before. You may pass to LOG-IT the name of the file
that you want it to log all activity to or you may leave it blank in which
case Log-it will use SECURITY.LOG as a default.

This one's a freebie. I hereby donate LOG-IT to the public domain for
use in any way seen fit. I denounce any responsibility for any malice
arising from usage of this program. I retain the source and copyright
although it is free to be used by anyone or corporate entity at no cost.

Thank you!

                                                    Kerry Rogers

P.S. This isn't a very SECURE program. It would be easily circumvented. The
best time to use it is when you are trying to log time usage although there
are other merits. Any ideas for enhancement...? Lemme know!
