[BARCODE] BarCode (Wood, Bill & Feied, Craig; $0) prints "3 of 9 bar codes" on an HP LaserJet printer. The program does not store data on disk, but since the program comes as an uncompiled BASIC program, it could be easily modified. (BASIC or GWBASIC required.) [BRCODE] BarCode 1.0 (HPLJ; Systems Development; $0) print Barcode 3 of 9 on HPLJ or compatible printer. [CWBARS] CWBars 1.2e (Charlotte Wood Software; $20) lets you print Postnet barcodes on your outgoing U.S. mail with an HP compatible laser printer. You can print barcodes manually, automatically or by arranging for your software to output a special escape sequence to your printer at the location where the barcodes are desired. -----Label & Envelope Printing [DSK_MAN] DiskMan 2.0 (StatMan; $6) is a disk labeling program for the HP LaserJet. It reads the files on a 5-1/4" or 3-1/2" disk and prints a label for it. It lets you load up to 12 disks and print all 12 labels on a single sheet of disk labels. [EMJR] Envelope Manager Junior 1.25 (PSI Associates; $145) prints a POSTNET barcode representation of the ZIP+4 on envelopes on an HPLJ printer. A feature named Dial-A-ZIP allows you to use your modem to access the ZIP+4 for any address in the country in approximately 15 seconds. [ENVELAL] Envelope 1.2 (Levine, Andrew; $?) is an HPLaserJet envelope printing program. [ENVLJ] EnvLJ 7.39 (Stern, Steven D.; $25) prints envelopes on the HP LaserJet and compatible printers without requiring any special font cartridge or special envelope tray or other apparatus. The program displays an envelope on the screen and prompts you to enter the addresses, then it prints them on an envelope. Alternatively, ENVLJ will read addresses from a specified data file. [ENVMM] EnvMM (Stern, Steven D.; $0) is a companion utility for EnvLJ. It takes the address records from an EnvLJ data file and creates a quote and comma file usable by most mail-merge programs, word processors, and spreadsheets. [HPDLBL] HPDLBL (Jackson, Bill; $0) prints labels for diskettes on an HP LaserJet II or equivalent printer. The program will list only the files in the current directory for drive A: when run in DOS. In OS/2 protected mode, however, it will also recursively process subdirectories and list files for as many subdirectory levels as available label space permits. Prints 3.5" and 5.25" labels C source code is provided, although the source code calls OS/2 functions and must be compiled under OS/2. [LABELER] Labeler 5.10 (Hoffman, Russell D. ASP; $15) makes it easy to print labels on 3.5" and 5.25" laser labels. [LASRBASE] LaserBase (Reinius, Sherman; $50) will print addresses on envelopes or labels from your dBase II or III+ data files. You may choose between six envelope sizes and three label sizes. You can modify the file structure of any dBASE file, reindex, and specify selection criteria. Two portrait fonts and one landscape font are included. [LASRLAB] Laser Label 1.1 (Tri-State Computer Services; $20) will print sheet labels on a laser printer in three different popular label forms. It allows you to use and re-use a page of labels and place the data on the page as needed. Requires a printer (Laser Jet preferred, but a dot matrix printer with labels meeting the selected form type will suffice). [LASRLBL] Laserlabels 1.00psl (Groener, Markus; $10) prints disk directories on 3.5" Avery laser disk labels. [MM] Mail Machine (TaxWare ASP; $25) prints labels and envelopes on HP LaserJet printers. Features include auto font installation and printer memory management, printing organized as repeatable jobs, batch mode, USPS barcode zips, standard envelope and label templates pre-defined (others user-definable), the ability to import text files, Type Director support, the ability to print graphics (logos, etc.) and more. -----Other [AUTO123] Auto123 is a 1-2-3 macro that makes it easier to manage HPLJ setup strings. [BADGE11] Badge-O-Magic (Mundy, Ward ASP; $45) prints badges and name tags of up to four lines with optional header and footer lines using five HPLJ soft fonts are included of from 20 to 40 point (included). Each badge is 3" x 4" with six badges being printed on each 8-1/2 x 11 inch page. Badge-O-Magic also includes powerful file management utilities which permit you to edit and add data to any dBASE file without leaving Badge-O-Magic. [GRAYRUL] GrayRule 1.2 (Advance Systems; $0) lets you control the HPLJ's powerful rule, Grayscale and pattern functions. [GREYBAR] GreyBar .10 (Davis, Michael S.; $0) will set your HP Laserjet II or III compatible printer to print with shaded bars similar to "greenbar" computer paper. This will work with any software that does not reset the printer. This is great for use with spreadsheets and accounting programs. If your software resets the printer, print to disk and then copy the file to PRN. [GRIDFRM] GridForm 1.1 (Waldman, Martin L. ASP; $20) prints grid or graph paper on HP LaserJets. Features include Metric or English measurements; linear, common log, or natural log scales; index lines and shaded grids. It prints directly or makes macros that can be copied to your printer later or used as overlays. [GRIDMAK] GridMaker (Bumgardner, James; $0) makes customized graph paper on HP Laserjet+ compatible printers. [HPMAZE] HPMaze (Dean, James L.; $0) draws a complex maze on HP LJ IID printer. Given 640K bytes of memory, 720K bytes of disk space on the default drive, and sufficient time, it will will generate a 768 room three dimensional maze at 300 dpi on the HPLJ. You can repeat mazes or make each one different. TP5 source code is included. [LJMACRO] LJMacros (Engholm, C. Rudy; $?) are macros for WordPerfect and the HPLJ with some macros taking special advantage of the HPLJ F-cartridge which the author says gives a superior looking proportional type compared to the B-cartridge and which has a much wider variety of symbols. [LJSLEEV] LJSleeve 1.0 (JMJ Software ASP; $15) prints 3-1/2" or 5-1/4" disk storage sleeves on LaserJet printers with the disk's directory printed on it. Just cut and tape. [LOGO] LoGo (Gregg, Whitfield; $?) will insert a logo symbol into any document for printing on a HP LaserJet printer. The logo symbol is designed by you, by making an image of the logo with any standard text editor. Each bit position in the graphics logo is represented by a character position in the LOGO.HDR file. A space character is printed as a blank dot, and any non-space character is plotted as a "dot" in the graphics image. [LTEST] Ltest 1.02 (JRP Software; $?) performs several printing checks on HP LaserJet compatibles. [OPTPRNT] OptPrnt ($0) is a text file outlining several ways to optimize print quality on HP LaserJet printers. [OVERLAY] Overlay 3.01 (Advanced Systems; $20) will convert a regular text file to an overlay file for HP-LaserJet compatible printers. An Overlay will place the print image on every page without the need to resend the file to the printer. This is great for applications such as letterheads, graphics, logos and text. More than one Overlay can be loaded at a time and you can use printer control codes to change the active Overlay. MS-Word is supported. [PMODE] PMode (BeBee, Jim; $?) is a very simple utility to set a serial port to 19200 baud. The author wrote it for use with an HP LaserJet (connected to several PC's) to reset the serial port on the PC to allow faster transmission of graphics data. [POSTER] Poster (Reyer, S. E. Dr.; $?) lets you create posters of large text. It starts by downloading a large font (either normal or shadow, about 60 point) into the HPLJ and then displays an editing area of about 20 lines of 45 characters. When finished typing your poster, the program will print it using the large font. Unfortunately, the fonts are proportionally pitched, which makes it difficult to position text or get equal left and right margins. -----Printer Control [4LCTRL] 4LCtrl 1.0 (Ronald E. Raikes; $0) is a control program for the HPLJ 4L printer. It can also print a page showing the internal fonts. [DMPLAS] DMPLAS (Waldman, Martin L. ASP; $49) translates IBM/Epson FX control sequences into HP LaserJet control sequences. It works with both text and graphics. The program can run as a 6K TSR or as a normal DOS program to print files formatted for IBM/Epson FX printers. A set of HP LaserJet soft fonts are included. Requires a hard disk. [EPSMUL8] Epson Emulator 2.0 (Pliable Products; $18) is a 24K TSR that lets LaserJets print documents from Epson-only programs. It handles low-density graphics, as well as different Epson pitches. [HPMENPD] HPmenpd is a very slick printer control program for HPLJ's. [HPPAGES] HP-Pages are text files filled with HP LaserJet control codes which, when printed, show the many features possible with the HP in both the portrait and landscape modes. [HPSET] HPSet is a printer control utility for the HPLJ printer. Pascal source code is included. [HPXMAC] HPXMacro .2 (MerderonthaOreonTex Press; $9-$24) clears all macros from HP Laserjet printers. [JETSET] JetSet is a printer setup program for the LaserJet printer. [JPILOT] Jet Pilot 1.2 (Morton, Robert L. ASP; $40) will control every feature of your LaserJet or compatible printer. It lets you change page settings such as paper size, orientation, and margins, and change font characteristics such as typeface, pitch, height, and style. You can print envelopes with addresses grabbed from the screen. Settings can be saved and reloaded to set your LaserJet to specific settings. This program can run as a TSR or standalone, and expanded memory is supported. [JETSET1] JetSet1 (Huizinga, P.J.; $0) converts the IBM-PC character set to the HP Roman-8 character set, including line-drawing characters. It also makes it easy to change fonts. [LASEIT] LaseIt 3.3 (Leggit, Rich; $25) is an HPLJ file printing and printer control program. It will let you adjust inter-character and inter-line spacing to allow from 1 to 250 characters per line and up to 32,000 lines per page. Naturally, at the extreme settings, characters will begin to overwrite each other just a tad, even after it switches to the small font. It will also print in landscape mode, print on both sides, print a selected range of pages of a file, leave a left margin, print multiple copies, and more. The defaults for printing a file are 66 lines per page, 80 characters per page, 8 spaces for tab expansion, 0 left margin, and page numbers start with "1". [LASER] Laser is a general purpose processor to help you get the most out of your HP LaserJet+ and LaserJet 500+ Printers. It is capable of controlling the very simple operations of Page Eject, Margin Setting, Etc., to the very complex operations of Downloading/Implementing Fonts, and Ruler Forms Overlay. [LASER66] Laser66 adjusts an HP LasetJet printer to print 66 lines per page. [LSU] Laserjet Setup Utility 5.03 (Gallo, Guy; $25) functions as either a utility to set various parameters on the Laserjet family of printers so that software which does not fully address these printers can be made to use fonts and functions that would otherwise be inaccessible, or as a stand-alone program to print ASCII text files, and to address envelopes. res:65k [LASRMATE] LaserMate400 1.0 (Hunter, E.R. ASP; $15) is a laser printer control program for OKIDATA OL400 and HP LaserJet Series II compatible printers. It can be used as a TSR (90k) or non-TSR. LM400 lets you choose primary and secondary fonts, make setting files to save the printer setting for different applications, execute a printer self test or the expanded font and symbol set print test, download nine font files at a time to the printer, select paper trays and sizes, choose hot keys, and more. [LJ4UTIL] LJ4 Utility 1.2 (TASsoft, reg. fee: $10-13) allows you to change the settings of the LaserJet 4 family of printers. You can change paper size, typeface, and economy mode settings just by typing LJ4 and the corresponding command at the DOS prompt. [LJCP] LJCP (Kalman, Steve; $25) is a printer control program for the HPLJ. [LJPRT] LJPrt 1.0 (Nafziger, Lawrence J.; $0) is a printer control utility for the HPLJ printers. It provides a full-screen display of options. You can quickly move to an option line by pressing a high-lighted letter and cycle through the options by pressing a key. You can select typefaces, margins, paper size and orientation. You can also select a file to print and add a header to the pages. Complex set-ups can be saved to disk for later re-use. (The author is no longer at the address provided in the documentation.) [LJRESET] LJReset (Veaner, Dan; $0) lets you reset the HP LaserJet without using the reset buttons. This lets you clear out settings left by other programs. [LJSETUP] LJ III Setup 1.1 (Marquette, Michael D.; $5) allows changing of general page options, fonts (bitmapped and scalable) and entering the HP-GL/2 mode on an HPLJ III. [LJUTILS] Laser Utilities (Kelly, Brian; $0) is a TSR that allows you to eject a page from the printer and/or reset the printer while running another program. The page eject will work with most printers. [LJVGA] LJVGA 2.0 (Ares Technologies; $10-$20) is a 6.5K TSR that allows you to print any VGA or Super VGA screen to an HP LaserJet or compatible printer. It will even print 256-color graphics screens. It is very slow when printing graphics. [POR2LND] Por2Land 1.0 (Conroy, Harry; $20) will convert any HP LaserJet soft font from portrait mode to landscape mode. The program operates on each font character bit-map, rotating the bit-map 90 degrees counterclockwise. The character-height, -width and -offset parameters for each character are reset as appropriate to the rotated result, and the font header and character headers are altered so that the printer will recognize the font as landscape rather than portrait. [SHADE] Shade (Dunford, Christopher J.; $0) is a text file that explains how to shade every other line of a LaserJet II print-out so that the result is similar to that produced on "green bar" paper stock. This makes it easier to read reports such as data file listings, etc., where each line is a record. [XMAN] XMan 1.0 (Clauss, Chris; $5) prints 132-column screens on an HP LaserJet. -----Screen Printing [2LJUTIL] 2LJutil (Graham, Keith P.; $0) Two LaserJet Utilities, one to set the HPLJ to 66 lines per inch and another to enable graphics screen dumps to the HPLJ from CGA graphics screens. [CLASER] Claser (Graham, Keith P.; $?) is a multi-purpose utility for the HPLJ. It allows switching between LPT1: LPT2: and COM1 and COM2 through menus; provides font setup and control though menus or simple flags embedded in text; allows graphics screen dumps; provides Epson emulation, including full-page graphics with limited LJ memory. May not work with other printers that emulate the HPLJ. Expects the B cartridge to be installed. res:30k [HPPS] HPPS 7.6 (May, Darin; $0) is a graphics driver for the HPLJ+ and the Series II. (It works fine on our HP-compatible Epson laser.) Options include reversing black and white. It supports the CGA and EGA and it worked on our VGA, but not for the higher solutions. Other features include margin reset and printer reset output before all screens, and printing of all EGA planes. Assembler source code is included. res: 1k [JET_SD] Jet-SD this utility allows you to print the contents of your screen using the LaserJet or ThinkJet printers. The utility also operates with the Hercules high-resolution graphics board. [LG_LJ] LG-LJ (Graham, Keith P.; $?) LG is a graphics screen dump for the HP LaserJet. LJ66 puts the LaserJet into the 66-lines-per-page mode. [P4PRTSC] P4PrtSc 1.0 (Hexagon Products; $20) is 35K TSR, print-screen function for laser printers. A tiny soft font is used to capture multiple screen images on one page. Support is provided for letter, legal, and A4 paper sizes, text screens other than 80x25, and printers attached to parallel or serial ports. [PRTSCJZ] PrtSc (Zuck, Johnathon; $5-$10) allows you to print graphics screens regardless of the adapter or mode to either an Epson or an HP Laserjet compatible printer. You can print to the HP in three resolutions. The program also supports multiple screen modes. -----File Printing Utilities [4PRINT] 4Print 4.15 (Korenthal Associates, Inc. ASP; $55) is a multiple ASCII file printing utility. In addition to HPLJs, it supports the HP DeskJet, the LaserMaster (Ricoh 4081 engine) and Epson GQ3500. Special support is also included for the HP LaserJet IID duplex printer. A4 size paper is also supported for the European market. 4Print can combine columns to print spreadsheets, documents and program listings up to 165 characters wide. In addition, 4PRINT can automatically download an internal soft font which prints 110 characters across in two columns or 230 characters across in a single column. Limited support for proportional fonts and IBM-style binder creation is included. Multiple copies can be printed in a single run. Other features include vertical image compression and expansion to handle a wider variety of close compatible printers; an option for 20 to 100+ lines per page; document vertical indenting, centering, and compressing; the ability to print three or four columns on a landscape page; three different word wrapping options, including a special programmer's wrap in which continuation lines are indented from the starting line; line formatting that allows arbitrary character positions to be selected, transposed, and interspersed with any text; mainframe carriage control; six soft fonts including four for LaserJets and two for DeskJets which can enhance output; two tray-selection options; and the ability to view four or six full pages side by side. [BOOKLS] BookLet 2.3 (Sympathetic Software ASP; $20) prints up to four document pages per sheet of paper on a laser or DeskJet printer for folding into a booklet. Features include support for standard size paper, lines per page, left and right indent, top and bottom margin, extra space for fold, page numbering, file name and/or date header, and font scaling. Other features include fully customizable headers and footers, and placement of text anywhere you want on the heading. Tokens are included so you can insert page numbers, file names, dates, over lines, under lines, and even rectangular shading or fill patterns. Both a command line driven and menu driven versions are included. [CTABLE] CTable 4.1 (Thompson, John R.; $20) aids in incorporating downloadable fonts for the HP LaserJet and your word processor. The program can handle fonts up to 40k and only ASCII characters 32 to 127. [IBM2HPJ] IBM2HPJ 1.0 (Sheridan, Sally and Lewis, Mark; $?) is a small program, non-resident, that when used with a program that writes IBM Graphics Printer output to a file, may be used to print that file on a Hewlett-Packard Laserjet printer. [LJ2UP] LaserJet Lister Utility 2.0 (Barnhart, Joe; $0) is a utility that prints ASCII text files in "2-up" (two pages on each piece of paper) format on an HP LaserJet printer. To run this program, you need a font cartridge with the Line Printer font in landscape form. LJ2UP works under OS/2. `C' source code is included. [LASRMAN1, LASRMAN2] LASR_MAN 5.11 (MicroMetric ASP; $40) prints unformatted ASCII files on a laser printer in different styles. These styles include the normal portrait orientation with either 10, 12 or 16 characters per inch (cpi) and landscape orientation with two pages printed per sheet at 16 cpi. Using both sides of the paper, it will print four pages of 72 lines each on letter size paper. It will also print on legal size and print files in the form of a booklet. Other features include a small 23 cpi font, including four pages per side; eight styles using a tiny 32 cpi font, including eight pages per side; four styles for a booklet with two and four text pages per book page; an output page capacity of 3000; a table of all available page sizes displayed during style selection; a graphical display of selected page style size; support for A4 paper size; Landscape and Double sided landscape styles; and much more. Also included is a collection of Gothic soft fonts for use with LaserMan. Font sets are included for HPLJ+, HPLJ-II, and HP DeskJet printers. The DeskJet printer requires an additional memory cartridge to support soft font downloading. [LISTFILE] Listfile 4.0 (Guilford, Tom; $25) will print text files and envelopes on an HPLJ-II compatible printer. Format options include two pages on one sheet of paper, 77 lines by 115 columns with lines numbered, 80 lines (unnumbered) by 133 columns, 57 lines (numbered) by 165 columns, 60 lines (unnumbered) by 176 columns, and 66 lines by 80 columns. The program features Mouse support, context sensitive help, a directory listing for the current directory, and eight printing options. Names and addresses on envelopes can be stored in a database. [LJ] LJ (Lontka, Bruce J.; $?) prints files on the HP LaserJet printer files in a landscape font at 16.6, 27.2 or 30 character to the inch. [LJ2] LJ2 prints a series of files on the LaserJet printer. The files are printed in a "landscape" font at 17 characters to the inch. To take advantage of this density, two "pages" of information from the file are printed on each piece of paper (left and right halves). You can specify the number of lines per page to print, ignore formfeed characters, and do complex printing. C source code included. [LP16] LP16 (Buerg, Vernon D.; $0) prints a file on an HP Laser printer with top and bottom margins and a page header that shows the file name, date and a page number. You can specify 6 or 8 lines per inch and 10, 12 or 17 characters per inch. [LPR] LPR (Hall, Barrie; $20) is a two-pass file printing program. The first pass, it analyzes the file with an eye towards minimizing paper usage. Supports HP LaserJet and LJ+ and IBM/Epson printers. One useful feature is the ability to strip out the fancy over-printed lines, and backspace-underline sequences that some documentation file writers feel compelled to add. LPR is especially useful for stripping out junk characters and lines out of downloaded files. [LZLIST] LZList 2.0 (RWR Consulting; $5) allows you to print files in landscape mode on the LaserJet. It is primarily designed for printing source code. It automatically numbers the lines and produces 1/2" grey bars for easier reading. It also prints the date, program name and page number on each page. [JETCOL] JetCol 3.0 (ARCaine Technology; $30) reduces the amount of paper used when printing reference material with a laser printer. It prints two columns, each up to ninety characters wide, ignores page breaks and eliminates blank lines. Up to 10 pages can be printed on one side of a sheet of paper. It will also print alternate pages for using both sides of the paper. [LJBOOK] LJBook 3.5 (Buerg, Vernon D.; $20) lets you print booklets on an HPLJ. Features include DOS sharing, the ability to print on A4 size paper, duplex printing, continuous printing options, and hole punch margins. A crisp internal font that includes the line-drawing characters is included. [PAGE_PR] Page Print 1.0 (Optus Software, Inc.; $?) will print a file on an HPLJ sideways (landscape mode), two pages to a side of paper. Options include adding "green" bars, borders, shading, and tab control. [PAMPHLE] Pamphlet 3.1 (Beattie, Martin; $?) prints a file on an HP Laser printer, four pages per sheet of paper (two pages on each side) in such page order that when the sheets are folded, they are in the proper page number order. Options allow page headings and a cover sheet with title. It also has a built-in editor for reviewing and making minor changes in files before printing them. The program allows you to use the cartridge or soft font and line density of your choice. A soft font loading utility is included. [P4UP] P4Up 3.2 (Arendt, Bill ASP; $30) prints four pages on one side of one sheet of paper using the HPLJ II and a downloaded 4-point (21.4 cpi) font. It will runs on the HP DeskJet and LaserJet Plus using soft fonts, and on the HP ThinkJet using graphics mode. There is an even- and odd-side option for two-sided printing, and support for A4 paper is included. Other features include support for up to five columns and rows per page, printing pages top-to-bottom or left-to-right, two-sided printing, and more. [SIDETWO] SideTwo 1.01 (Microsystems Software, Inc.; $49) is a 20k TSR spooler and file printer that lets you produce two-sided output from any word processor. It will print in 1,3,5,7,9 - 10,8,6,4,2 page order automatically. Only one re-feed is required even if you have requested 20 copies. It supports soft fonts, line-heights, macros, and more within the print stream. [SJII] softJet II 2.3B (Steiner, Wesley; $35) lets you preview on screen output intended for the printer in HPLJ's PCL format. Features include Draft and Zoom options, full spacing support for many of the popular HP font cartridges, Page Up and Page Down through the output, Goto any page of the output, Measure the position of output on a page, Preview with any HP compatible soft fonts and download soft fonts to the printer. It also comes with a small utility program PRNDSK.COM that allows any application to redirect printer output to a disk file. [ST_SYMB] ST_Symb (Scandalous Technology; $5) contains the Herman Zapf Dingbat style typeface in 14pt and 18pt portrait for download to the HP LaserJet printer. These are mostly different types of fancy asterisks, arrows, boxes, etc. [TXT2HP] Txt2HP 1.01 ($0) is a command-line utility that will print an ASCII file to an HPLJ-compatible printer, optionally in 2-column landscape and/or duplex modes. [XPRT50] Xprt 5.0 (Bearden, Paul R.; $15) is a file printing utility for HP LaserJets compatible printers. Selectable options are compressed, Elite, Pica, or miniature print; port selection; gray bar for user-specifed numbers of lines; header; indent; and more. -----HP Plotters [HPLOT] HPlot (Yarus, Mike; $?) is a program which allows direct communication with Hewlett Packard (and compatible) plotters from the keyboard. Plotter commands are typed in and carried out immediately. If data is requested from the plotter, it is shown on the screen. [PLOTS] PenPlot, CPlot are for plotting on pen plotters. [PLOTREA] PlotRead is a short, simple program that allows you to draw or trace pictures on your HP plotter and have them read and stored in file on your computer for use with REPLOT (to redraw the picture on the same or a different size scale) or, if you so desire, to be adapted (by you) as input to screen graphics in BASIC. [TSRPLOT] TSRPlot 1.8 (Ayliffe, Edward ASP; $29) will plot HP-GL files in the background on an HP plotter connected to a serial port while you run other programs in the background.
