Other CAD programs may be used. Features include sorting records by several fields, viewing stored data and drawing itself on one screen, and launching AutoCAD from within the program. Requires 640K of RAM. [ALLY] Ally 2.11 (Waskow, Steve ASP; $75) is a programmer's workbench and analyzer for AutoLISP. It is accessible from and interactive with AutoCAD. Ally helps debug AutoLISP source code by error checking, scoping and cross-referencing LISP symbols. [ASC_SCR] ASC-SCR 2.1 (HydraWare Software; $10-$15) will convert an ASCII text file of x,y, and optionally z, coordinates into an AutoCAD script file. An example data file is included. [CADET] Cadet 4.03 (Waskow, Steve ASP; $50) allows users to create and edit text and attributes in AutoCAD drawings. This full-screen text editor includes such features as search-and-replace, cut-and-paste, and the ability to change text style, height, and case. It allows you to create both notes and text tables, and import and export text. It has word wrap and an integrated spelling checker with a 112,000+ word dictionary. [CMENU] Custom#Menu (Mountain Software ASP; $20-$30) allows you to easily modify an AutoCAD menu. It runs from within the drawing editor. You choose the location of menu items with a mouse or digitizer pointer and assistance is provided in constructing the menu command. Buttons, tablet boxes, and main screen menu items can be added, inserted, or deleted. [DRAFTSM] Draftsman's Companion (Blueline Development Inc.; $64) makes AutoCAD easier and more efficient to use. For example, you can move, copy or stretch by distances without specifying "from" and "to" points. You can manage layers without having to use AutoCAD's cryptic commands. The program can find the center of any two lines, and more. Requires AutoCAD release 10 or 11. [ELF_LIB] Extended Lisp Function Library 1.1 (Mountain Software ASP; $39-$56) is a library of commands and functions to enhance AutoCAD and AutoLISP. It includes an ASCII file browse and editor, DOS file management, video, window, menus, math, entity creation, keyboard, file, directory, list handling, string handling, sound, and debugging functions. [HATCHER] Hatcher Hatch Patterns 1.sw (Sharp, Morris E.; $40) is a collection of 100 AutoCAD hatch patterns. It contains fun-to-use patterns for drawings such as greeting cards and several patterns to be used in professional drawings. (NOTE: This will only work with AutoCAD versions 10 and 11. It is incompatible with version 12.) [LNCHCAD] LaunchCAD (Mountain Software ASP; $20-$30) is a replacement for the AutoCAD opening menu. This utility makes AutoCAD's opening menu functions, such as a drawing file or subdirectory, easier to select. [LOADIT] LoadIt! (Genusa, Stephen V.; $43) is a front end menu for AutoCAD. It includes utilities to make it easy to perform the following functions: create new drawings, create new drawings by prototype, edit existing drawings, pick drawings from a ZIP file, insert Blocks, erase drawings, erase BAK files, DXFin multiple drawings, DXFout multiple drawings (ASCII & Binary), printer plot drawings, plot drawings, and view drawings. Create, Edit, Erase, Execute, List, Load, View (etc...) Lisp files, Script files, Font-Shape files, Menu files, Slides, and standard dos files. LoadIt! is all menu driven. It also has Mouse support and on-line help. The author can no longer be reached at the address listed in the documentation. [NUTS_AND] Nuts and Things (R & I Enterprise; $13) contains 98 drawing files for use with AutoCad 2.6. Most of the files are drawings of various pieces of hardware which are frequently used by designers and drafting personnel. They drawings consist of nuts, flat washers, split lock washers and pan head and flat head screws (both phillips and slotted heads). Each drawing is an individual "block" and can be called up and positioned by the user to satisfy the requirements of the drawing being developed. [QUICKCMD] Quick Command 3.0 (Jincks, Dan; $20) is a group of AutoLISP enhancements for AutoCAD. They provide faster command entry, a screen interactive transparent calculator, 3D zooms without regens, and extended and improved block and layer commands. You can also explode multiple entities in a window. This set is fully documented with unprotected source code. Also included is BUZ ($5) a self-indexing text file viewer. [SURVEY] Survey Drafter 2.0 (TDM Software; $50) converts raw survey data in the form of a distance, angle, elevation and note into an AutoCAD script file format. Once the script file is created, AutoCAD is used to generated an automatic point plot drawing of the survey data. [TAB123] Tab123 1.3 (Mountain Software ASP; $20-$30) allows you to import Lotus 123 and Symphony spreadsheet files into an AutoCAD drawing as a table of text entities and an optional cell grid to enclose the table. [TOOLMSTR] ToolMaster (Miller, Leonard R.; $?) provides a vehicle for Tool and Machine Designers and Draftsmen to "drive" AutoCAD 9.0+ to maximum performance. It incorporates an 11" X 11" overlay for a digitizing tablet. This overlay drawing of fourteen logically grouped modules is populated by one-half inch squares. Each of the more than 350 squares performs some AutoCAD macro or customized AutoLISP programmed routine. Hard disk and AutoCAD 9+ required. [WRLDMAP] World Maps (TDM Software; $0) reads an ASCII format file containing longitude and latitude data and converts it to an AutoCAD script file format. Once the data is converted to a script file, AutoCAD is used to automatically draw a cylindrical equal distant projection map. The program is designed to use the digitized map data available from PsL and other pd/shareware sources. -----Printer Drivers [PCAD] PrintCAD 1.30b (Ravitz Software Inc., ASP; $49) is a printer driver for CAD packages. It prints directly from CAD software using either AutoCAD's ADI pen plotter driver or an HP-GL driver. It supports a wide variety of printers, from Epson 9-pin to PostScript. Other specific printers supported include HP DeskJet 500C, PaintJet XL 300, LaserJet 4 at 600 dpi, Canon BJC880 and BJC800 native mode, Canon LBP 8 Mk4, and IBM 4029 LaserPrinter 600 dpi. Requires 368K of EMS or XMS memory. [PRINTGL] PrintGL 1.40b (Ravitz Software Inc. ASP; $50) will print an HP pen plotter file on a printer. HP-GL is HP's pen plotter control language that is widely supported by graphics programs including AutoCAD, GenCAD, MathCAD, SAS, MICROCADAM, Schema, and GEM's IMG output format. PrintGL supports Epson compatible 9 and 24 pin dot matrix printers, HP LaserJet, HP 7475, DeskJet, and PaintJet, and IBM 9 and 24 pin Proprinters, Toshiba 24 pin, Quietwriter 2 and 3, LaserPrinter and NEC 24 pin printers print in 360x360 dpi mode. It also supports HP-GL, PostScript, Canon LBP, Canon BJ, IBM ExecJet output and HP 7550 polygon commands. Proportional fonts are supported along with clipping window handling, line dash patterns and margin precision. It will also display plots with a CGA, EGA, VGA, enhanced VGA, 720x540 and 800x600 VGA, or HGC and output a bit map. Even if your graphics program supports your printer, you may find that PrintGL gives better print quality. PrintGL uses the best graphics modes available for each printer that it supports. If you need printed graphics output from personal software, you can output HP-GL and use PrintGL to do the printing. This gives immediate support to a wide range of printers. Other features include clarification of Canon BJ/IBM ExecJet drivers, and compression mode drivers for 24 pin printers. Output formats are provided for HP QuietJet, ZSoft PCX, and Kodak Color 4. -----Rendering [AUTOREND] AutoRender (Control Automation, Inc.; $89) is a DXF rendering and shading package. The display is divided into two sections, the Command/Status window, and the Screen View Window. There are ten basic command including turning, zooming, coloring, redrawing, and various printing options. The documentation walks you through each process, so getting started is easy. There is also a section describing the concepts of 3-D rendering. The program accepts mouse input and other CAD oriented devices. Requires a hard drive and 640K of RAM. [PROTOCAD] ProtoCAD 3D 1.10c (TRIUS, Inc. ASP; $65) is a fast 3D CAD/rendering program with 3D drawings and editing tools. It turns 2D drawings into 3D models. Visual aids simplify modeling and make adjusting the viewpoint easy. Perspective, isometric, oblique, and plane views are included. There is realistic light source and surface shading. It supports most popular dot matrix and laserjet printers. It also has multiple layers, HPGL and DXF import capabilities, PCX output, and more. Requires 512K RAM. -----Format Conversion [ANS2COM] ANS2COM 3.0 (Rexxcom; $15) converts ANSI graphics to self-displaying COM files. [ART2WP] Art2WP 1.7 (Hinkle, William J.; $5) converts PFS:First Publisher clip art files to other formats, including WPG, TIF, BIT, RLE, IMG, and GIF. It also has the TIFF compression tag to satisfy Optiks 2.11 and reversed video on GIFs, also added PCX output. [ARTCON] ArtCon 1.4 (Onda, Robert; $?) is a clip-art converter for: Print Shop, PrintMaster, NewsMaster (*) and PFS: First Publisher. The program does fast, easy clip-art conversions between Print Shop and PrintMaster Libraries, and converts either Print Shop or Printmaster Libraries to the PFS: First Publisher format. [BIT2GRY] Bit2Gray 2.1 (Uechi, Brian K.; $15) converts black and white dithered images to gray scale. It reads black and white PCX files of any size and writes 16 color/gray scale or 256 color/gray scale PCX files. The 16 gray scale files are best loaded into PC Paintbrush configured for VGA 640x480x16 colors/gray scale. The 256 color/gray scale files are best loaded into PC Paintbrush configured for VGA 320x200x256. Scans may be up to 8192 pixels wide and any length. [CGAPCX] CGAPCX 1.0 (Visionary Software Technology, Inc.; $10) allows you to view up to 256-color PCX files on computers equipped with a CGA adapter. (The authors can no longer be reached at the address provided in the documentation.) [CGIF] CGIF 1.0 (Pop Software; $0) is a fast, simple utility for viewing GIF files. Pictures are displayed in the VGA 320x200x256 mode. For pictures with resolution higher than 320x200, you can scroll the display. Source code is available from the author. [CHKPIC] ChkPic (Graham, Keith P.; $0) is a PC graphics file identifier which is capable of determining 11 different types of graphics files. This can be very helpful if you have gotten a graphics file from somewhere and don't know what kind it is. [CMPUSHO] CompuShow 2000 1.01a (Canyon State Systems; $33) is a robust program for viewing graphics files. A graphics information box displayed previous to the file being shown contains information about the file and the various display options available. Suppport for graphics file types such as PC Paintbrush, PC Paint, Dr. Halo, RIX EGA Paint, ColoRix, MacPaint, GIF, RLE, and Windows BMP files are included. 24-bit BMP, PCX, and IFF/LBM files are also supported. Also included is full support for GIF 89a features, including delays, transparency, user input, restore to background, restore to previous, plain text, and comment extensions. Supports Targa 16, 24, 32, uncompressed and run-length-encoded, mapped and RGB graphics. An automatic "best mode" selection includes video driver modes. Works on Hercules, CGA, EGA, MCGA, SuperVGA, VGA and there is also support for EGA with monochrome monitor. Dr. Halo CUT files are supported, as well as variant PCX formats. Other features include support for XMS and EMS memory, extended mouse support, full time rescaling, dithering in all 2 through 16-color display modes, and more. [GIFPRT] GIFPrt 4.1 (Hamrick, Edward B.; $35) will display and print GIF files. It uses color dithering for displaying GIF files on displays and printers that do not support 256 colors; however, as with all other graphics utilities, dithered photographs don't turn out very well. A slide show feature is included. Supports most printers and graphic adapters. Requires 512K. [COMPRES] Compression/Decompression Utility (LEAD Technologies, Inc.; $49) will compress or decompress TGA, GIF, TIFF, BMP, PCX, and BIN files up to ratios of 255:1. It provides options to save VGA palettes and load images into different resolutions. Images of 2000 pixels wide by 16,000 pixels deep can be compressed. You can also compress using JFIF and JTIF (supporting JPEG standards) or LEAD extended ratios with much better image quality than JPEG. [CROPGIF] CropGIF 1.3 (Alchemy Mindworks, Inc.; $35) allows you to crop fragments from existing large GIF files and write them to new smaller files. It works like the cut and paste functions of a paint program, and a Mircosoft compatible mouse is required. EMS is supported. [CVTGIF] CVTGIF 1.5 (Bridges, John; $0) converts PIC and PCX files to GIF format. [EZ_SHOW] EZ-Show 1.2b (RSE, Inc.; $40) lets you create video presentations and slide shows without scripts. It works with anything your screen can display, including text screens and super-VGA graphics. A screen capture program, presentation creation program, and show program are included. Features include fades, delays, user flow control, branching, background processing, EGA palette editor and more. Mouse support is included. Requires CGA, EGA, VGA, or MCGA. [FILEINFO] File Information 1.1 (Alchemy Mindworks, Inc.; $20) tells you what format and mode a graphics file is in. [FMAC] FMAC (Graham, Keith P.; $0) is a CGA MACPAINT file viewer. Better than READMAC. [GIF2JPG] GIF2JPG (Handmade Software, Inc.; $20) converts GIF files to JPG files and back to GIF images. JPG files are typically one-half to one-third the size of GIF files. [GIF2PCX] GIF2PCX 1.3 (Voit, Robert; $10) converts GIF files to PCX files. It can handle large, complex pictures and has a menu system for getting file names. Works with Windows 3. Supports VGA only. [GIF2WPG] GIF2WPG 3.6a (Hinkle, William J.; $10) converts GIF files to a Word Perfect Graphic file. [GIFDESK] GIFDesk 3.2 (Wherley, Jay; $0) lets you view many GIFs at one time on a VGA system. [GIF_INFO] GIF Information 1.0 (Alchemy Mindworks, Inc.; $20) lets you catalog GIF files, including a miniature version of each file. [GIFHEX] GIFHex (Gozum, Lawrence & Marvin; $28) is a utility to convert GIF or PCX or BLD/PLT images, with 256-colors, to variable, error-distributed, dithered, 16-color pictures (up to 1024x768x16). It supports four different algorithms to maximize your 16-color modes. Requires EGA and 512K of memory. [GIFPCX] GIFPCX 3.6 (Hinkle, William J.; $10) translates GIF to PCX files. [GIFLITE] GIFLite (Hu, Tsung; $20) is a command line GIF file compression program. Because GIF files are already so dense, normal archiving programs like LHA and PKZIP cannot compress them any significant amount. GIFLite uses a unique approach to compress GIF files by an average of 15% to 35% depending on the complexity of the image. It conforms to both GIF87a and GIF89a standards. All non-image information is preserved in the resulting GIF files. Unlike regular archives, you do not have to uncompress GIFLite files to use them. [GR_EXT] GR_EXT (Graham, Keith P.; $0) is a text file of many of the known DOS extensions of graphics files. [GRAFCAT] Grafcat 3.1a (Alchemy Mindworks, Inc.; $40) prints a visual catalog of your image files, with sixteen pictures to a page. It drives all LaserJet and PostScript laser printers, and works with any mixture of GIF, PCX, MAC and IMG files. Other features include support for GIF89a and interlaced monochrome files; a trap for vector WPG files; Windows PCX support; PIC support; image scaling and BMP support. This program should work with most PC based image files. [GRAFWK70] Graphic Workshop 7.0b (Alchemy Mindworks Inc.; $40) is an excellent program for working with computer graphic files. It converts, prints, views, dithers and halftones MacPaint, GEM/Ventura IMG, PCX, PFS-ART, GIF, Mac-GIF, TIFF, gray-scale TIFF, EPS, BMP, and WPG files. It drives CGA, Hercules, EGA, VGA, Paradise, Orchid, Ahead, VESA, Diamond Speedstar, and ATI VGA Wonder cards. It allows you to convert color image files into superb black and white clip art for desktop publishing. Other features include image rotation and flipping, IFF file compression, scaling, halftoning, LPT2 and LPT3 printer support, support for anamorphic scaling, 24-bit resolution support, and more. 700K of disk space is required. [GREY] Grey 1.0 (Philips, Curtis; $?) is a utility to convert Publishers Paintbrush (or Paintbrush Plus) 8x8 dithered halftone PCX or PCC files to 63-grey-level PCX or PCC file formats, using the 256-color (greyscale) ZSoft pallette. [IMAGE_AL] Image Alchemy (Handmade Software, Inc.; $80) converts between various graphics file formats, including GIF, TIF, TGA, IFF, JPG, PICT, PIC (Apple), PCX, RAW, RAS, Windows BMP, PBM/PGM/PPM, and SGI. It is the first shareware program to perform JPEG compression and decompression. Features include support for reading RLE and interleaved GIF files, 8-bit RAW files, optional smoothing on JPEG reading, and support for any color component subsampling on JPEG reading. Other file formats supported include Vivid, MTV, DCX, QDV, Erdas, QRT, GEM, Utah RLE, ADEX, RTL, WPG, Pictor, Autologic, q0, BIF, Stork, XWD, Scodl, and XBM. Support is provided for Encapsulated PostScript output; HP PCL (LaserJet output); Video 7, Trident, Tseng 4000, IBM 8514/A display boards; VESA compatible SVGA boards, Sierra HiColor DAC;and 320x200x256 display mode. Other features include image scaling; conversion to monochrome images; false color palette conversion; optimized EGA image generation support; support for extra-large images; palette sorting, paletted swapping, and palette selection parameters and Stucki and Jarvis, Judice, and Ninke Dithering. Requires a hard drive, VGA, and DOS 3.2+. There is an image size restriction of 640x480. [IMAGECTL] Image Control 2.15 (Brightstar Consultants Ltd, reg. fee: $60) is a 24-bit colour image processing, manipulation and editing package. The program provides editing, painting, processing and full darkroom facilities on multiple images. Features include true-color 24-bit internal image format, GIF87A support, multiple image workboard, image cut and paste, pixel editing, painting tools, effects, JPEG compression, XMS/EMS support, support for VESA 1.01 and non VESA SVGA chipsets, and the ability to save TIFF, TGA, BMP, and JPG formats. Requires 286 or above, VESA VGA, mouse, and 1MB of free disk space. [IMGFUN] IMGFun 1.01 (Speedy Software ASP; $35) is an image compression and enhancement utility. It allows you to view graphic images, convert images between GIF, PCX, BMP and JPEG formats, compress color mapped images and gray level images by JPEG compression, and display images as a manual slide show. Other features include image rotation, rescaling, and smoothing. You can also adjust brightness, colors and the contrast of an image, set the cut area for display and process, and set the viewing directions. Requires VGA/SVGA and a hard disk. [IMAGEGAL] Image Gallery 1.1e (Alchemy Mindworks, Inc.; $40) is a bitmap image cataloging system. It creates multi-image galleries that display thumbnail representations of the original image. You can locate files by visually scrolling through the pages or you can search on key words in the comment field. Other specific information such as dimensions and location are also stored in the image database. You can print all or part of a gallery using a PostScript or LaserJet compatible printer. Dot matrix printers are also supported. It supports virtually all popular bitmapped image formats. Requires VGA, a mouse, and 500K of free disk space. [IMPROCES] Improces 2.0 (John Wagner, reg. fee: $25) is an excellent SVGA image processor supporting all modes from 320x200x256 through 1024x768x256. [MERGEIT] MergeIt (DiBart, Dennis; $25) merges two scanned sections of a document which are in the PCX format with an automatic process which then allows trimming and adjustment. It can merge scanned images together either horizontally or vertically. It will display the merged image regions on Hercules, EGA, and VGA video systems. Other features include an automatic trimming function, a menu system of commands, and support for image producing software that does not write a complete PCX image file header. This is an ideal utility for owners of hand scanners. [MVPPAINT] MVP Paint (MVP Software ASP; $35-$53) is a VGA graphics workshop. Features include animation, sunbursting, interpolation, trending, and palette manipulation permitting use of 262,144 colors. It supports EMS, XMS, diskcache and PCX, GIF and VGA file formats. Requires 640K, VGA/SVGA, and a mouse. [P2E] PCX-to-Executable 1.0 (Birken Software, Inc., reg. fee: $5) converts 320x200, 256 color images from PCX file format to executable files. [PCX2X145] PCX2EXE 1.45 (Williams, Mike; $25) converts PCX files into self-displaying EXE files. A TSR screen grabber is included that saves in PCX format and has no limit on the size of the graphic file that can be created. [ICN11] PCX2LCN 1.1 (Blueview Software, reg. fee: $20) converts PCX files to RIP Icon format. [PCX2PCL] PCX2PCL 1.3 (TaxWare ASP; $30) converts PCX graphics to Hewlett Packard PCL format. A download utility is included for sending macros to the printer; instructions are given for accessing the macros from within most major software applications. [PCX_TOOL] PCX-ToolBox 2.1 (PC West, Inc.; $40) is a set of PCX imaging tools. Functions include crop, scale, view, print, dither, convert palettes, move, copy, delete, and more. Mouse support is included. Requires 512k RAM. [PICEM] Picem 2.7 (Bridges, John; $0) is a quick and easy way to view picture files from many graphics programs as well as GIF files. It also allows you to adjust the brightness and contrast in your pictures and save them back to disk. [PICVIEW] PicView (Thomas, Greg Thomas & Mettee, Brad; $15) is a picture viewer for GIF, Colorix Uncompressed and Mac pictures. Its claim to fame is an adjustable palette animation feature. A picture can be animated through the entire palette, a portion of the palette, and through a range of colors in the palette. It supports all major SVGA chipsets and will automatically adjust the mode selections. [POPPCX] PopPCX 1.0 (Panda Studio Inc.; $25-$35) is a pop-up PCX file viewer. It takes a rather hefty 86k of RAM. When you pop it up, it lists all the files in the directory rather than just PCX files, making it a little more of a nuisance to use. Other than these two complaints, it does what it is supposed to do. [PRINTGF] PrintGF 1.10 (Ravitz Software Inc. ASP; $34) is a GIF file printing program. It prints or displays GIF files on most PC bit mapped graphics devices at 240 shade levels per color plane, color or black/white, with error diffusion dithering, brightness and contrast for each plane, user selectable clip area, print size, portrait or landscape. PrintGF supports a large number of printers, including PostScript, and video types, and outputs to PCX files as well. 15- and 24-bit VESA SVGA support is provided. [RTAG21] RTag 2.1 (Phillip H. Sherrod ASP; $20) facilitates the generation ray tracing animation. It compiles an animation control language and creates files to cause ray tracing programs like POV-Ray or Polyray to produce a sequence of frames for an animation. The language offers full arithmetic expressions, looping control and spline path generation. You can create animations with accelerations and/or object interactions. [TGA2TIF] TGA2TIF 1.10 (Hamilton, Mark; $0) converts targa (TGA) files to Tiff (TIF) files. The Tiff file can be read by popular DeskTop Publishing packages like PageMaker. [TGIF] TGIF (Lark, James; $10) converts color GIF files (from CompuServe) to black and white via a halftone process that approximates the intensities of each color. It also allows you to double or triple the size of images without losing any smoothness. C source code is included. [TIFF] TIFF 1.4 (Thomas, Markham; $?) is a TIFF file viewer that uses either EGA or VGA graphics for screen display. If a VGA is present you can specify a gray-scaled display. [TIFFREAD] TiffRead ($0) is a small program that displays TIFF image files. [TIFVIEW] TifView 1.0 (Pegasus Imaging Corporation; $0) is a TIF file viewer which supports panning, zooming and changing pages on multipage TIFs. It will also perform three types of anti-aliasing. [TXT2PCX] Txt2PCX (Decisions Software; $25) is a 31k TSR that will capture text screens and save them in graphics format as PCX files. Once saved, PCX files can be imported into virtually all desktop publishing and graphics programs. [VESAVW46] VESAView 4.6 (William M. White, reg. fee: $30) allows you to view and print BMP, GIF, IMG, GEM, JPG, PCX, TGA & TIF images & HPGL plotter files. It also allows you to pan images that are larger than your screen resolution, make adjustments to color, brightness, and contrast, crop images, and more. Requires a VESA driver for your graphics card and enough extended memory to hold the entire image. Supports VESA modes thru 1280x1024x256. [VGA2GIF] VGA2GIF (Fleisher, Laurie & Bill; $0) will capture a VGA mode 13H graphics screen (320x200x256) and convert it to GIF format. [VPIC] Vpic (Montgomery, Bob; $15) is a graphics file viewer and converter for EGA, MCGA, VGA and SuperVGA. It will display graphics files in the following formats: GIF, PCX, SCx, PIC, TGA, CIT, LBM and MAC files. VPic will save any picture to any of the other formats except MAC. It will also display files in a slide-show mode. Other features include support for uncompressed coloRIX SCO files, Deluxe Paint II viewing and save capability, and the ability to view GIF89a and FRA fractal files.
