 1. PRODUCT OVERVIEW
----------------------------------------
The Black Swan is powerful HTML editor
which enables you to design sophisticated
web pages and supports HTML 4.0 and all
Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer tags
and attributes.

Black Swan is a stand-alone program, and
does not require any other expensive programs
like word processors or HTML validators
for designing complete web pages, ready
to go to the Internet. Black Swan is
oriented to all users ranging from
occasional home or business development
to professional web page designers.

Black Swan provides a set of powerful web
page visual development tools covering
whole web page design cycle and it gives
an user a possibility to create a complete web
page, ready to go on the web, very quickly
without HTML programming.

The Tag Inspector is a powerful visual tool
which enables you to insert any HTML tag
or attribute into the web page in just a few
seconds.

HTML language is becoming bigger and changing
very quickly. There are already more than
90 tags, some of them have 12 and more
attributes, but Tag Inspector takes care
about that. All you have to do - run the
Tag Inspector.

The Black Swan provides a new approach for web
page designers. When new HTML tags are available,
all registered users will be able to obtain a
database with the new tags that is easily installed
into this program, via the DATA subdirectory.
Just copy new databases into the Black Swan's DATA
subdirectory and you are up to date.
The Tag Inspector presents new HTML version and
you can insert new tags and attributes into your
web pages. So, register your Black Swan copy and
do not buy HTML editors anymore.

Black Swan comes with Install/Uninstall programs.

You can use Black Swan free for the evaluation
period of 30 days.

This is shareware and costs just US$ 30.00

All shareware versions of Black Swan are FREELY
distributable.

----------------------------------------
 2. MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
----------------------------------------
Black Swan requires Windows 95/NT
operating system, an 80486 or better
processor and 8Mb of system memory.

A full installation of Black Swan requires
approximately 4.5 Mbytes of hard disk space.

Black Swan has been tested under
Windows 95, NT 3.51, NT 4.0.

----------------------------------------
 3. INSTALLATION
----------------------------------------
To install Black Swan, run SETUP.EXE.
This can be run on either
Windows 95, NT 3.51, NT 4.0.

By default, Black Swan installs into the
\Program Files\Black Swan 4.21 directory.
This assumes you have used the default
directory structure.

Installation Notes
-------------------

- In the Set Directories dialog, the Browse
button displays a Choose Directory dialog
that allows you to select a root directory
where all your files will be installed.
On some systems, browsing to a drive other
than C:\ will give an erroneous message
indicating that the drive is not available.
When this happens, simply type in the
path name directly and the drive will be
  recognized.

- Setup automatically sets the target directory
for the Borland Database Engine to the location
of any existing BDE. Setup program gives you a
warning if BDE is detected on your computer.
When this happens, simply answer "Yes".

  (see section 4)

----------------------------------------
4. PARTIAL BORLAND DATABASE ENGINE
   INSTALLATION
----------------------------------------

Black Swan comes with partial Borland Database
Engine in order to reduce application size and time
of downloading.

A Partial BDE install imposes the
following limitations:

- No two BDE Client applications can run
on the same machine at the same time.
If a BDE Client application is already
running on your system you will receive
the following error message on startup:

"An Error occurred while attempting to
   initialize to Borland Database Engine
   (Error $210C)"

If you have this error quit Paradox for
Windows, dBASE for Windows, Delphi,
Quattro Pro , ReportSmith and other
programs using the Borland Database Engine.

- A Partial BDE install must place BDE DLL
files in your program's run directory.

If you have already Borland Database Engine
on your computer you will get the following
message:

"Setup has detected the Borland Database
Engine (BDE) on this system. Continuing with
setup will install a partial version of BDE
in a different directory, which may cause
problems when both versions of BDE are being
used. We recommend that you contact the
supplier of this application to obtain a full
version of BDE compatible with this
application. Continue with setup ? "

Answer "Yes" on this question.
