solacalc is a program for predicting energy losses and gains in passive solar house designs.

It's particuarly adapted to take account of passive solar energy, both directly through windows and conservatories or via special solar technologies that might be added or installed.
solacalc aims to show how adapting buildings to take account of the sun is both beneficial to comfort and energy costs. There's extensive online help available at each stage of the calculations. With practice, and assuming all the information is at hand, solacalc can give meaningful answers at the end of inputting sessions that last only 20 minutes.
solacalc uses a series of spreadsheet forms that automatically calculate the energy use based on the inputted specifications of a house design.

solacalc is installed by unzipping solacalc.zip to a directory of choice and then running setup.exe. If you're using WinZip or similar, then you can use the install option.

solacalc is distributed as shareware, you can register online or by filling in the form from within solacalc. By installing this software you accept the limit of 30 uses if it is not registered.
