ReadMe File for FoneMate 2.0
***********************************************************************
NOTE: For the first time you must run FoneMate directly and not
through a shortcut, after that you can run it from a shortcut.
The First time you run FoneMate.exe you may get a few error
messages, don't think that it is no good and throw it out.
All you have to do is close FoneMate and restart it, as the
error messages will not show up again. The reason for this
is that FoneMate is self registering for all it's ActiveX
Components, once the components are registered the error
messages will no longer pop up. Also make sure all the files
included with FoneMate.exe are included with it in the same
      directory.

I would recommend not putting garbage in the PhoneNumber Slots
as this may mess up the dialing operation.

Don't do this: 1-800-GET-CHOW
Don't do this: Home: 657-5555 Work: 657-2222
Don't put letters in the PhoneNumber Section or it may not be Dialable
 by the auto dialer
This is OK: 1-800-123-4567
This is OK: 1-202-222-2222 234-5678
This is OK: 1-202-222-2222

Always include the 1 in front of the number if it is a long distance
number.

If you need to get a better idea of how FoneMate works, load the
included file Exam20.fnm.

FoneMate will store all your phonenumbers in one file, or if you
prefer you can have multiple files.

Maybe one file for Business and another for Residence phone numbers.
You decide how your phone numbers will be stored.

Use the ABC's to quickly navigate through the list of entries.
Use the arrows to step through each entry.

Inserting a phonenumber entry:
Type in the Name, Phonenumber, Address and Comments
and then press the insert button on the tool bar.
FoneMate will automaticaly alphabetize the entry.

Deleting a phonenumber entry:
Go to the entry you wish to delete and press the delete button
  on the tool bar.

Replacing an entry:
Go to the entry you wish to change then change it directly and when
you are finished click the replace button on the toolbar.

Modifying an entry:
Go to the entry you wish to modify and the make the changes directly
then press the insert button. Now find the old entry and press delete.

Dialing a phone number:
Press the appropriate button next to the number to dial.

Finding an entry that has already been inserted:(The find feature is not
enabled when the registration code has not been typed in.)
Click on the Find button, check Start at end (as to start from the end
of the file), type in the string you wish to find and then click on the
proper radio button for Last Name, First Name or Company and then click
the next button. When you don't check the start at end, the find
feature will start the find at the present point towards the beginning.

Comm port Settings
To adjust your comm port settings for FoneMate, on the menu go to
	Edit then Comm port setting.

Note: Without the proper Comm port setting FoneMate will be unable
to make calls and you will get error messages while trying
	      to dial out.

If you don't know what comm port setting to use follow these
instructions: Right-click on My Computer and click on properties
then click on the device manager tab then click on the plus sign
next to Modem then double-click on the modem device that is listed,
finally click on the modem tab and in it you will see where it
says Port. It may read COM1, this would mean that you would type
in 1 for the comm port setting on FoneMate, likewise COM2 would be
	2.
If after properly setting the comm port you still get errors
when trying to dial out, you must have program that is using
that comm port. If this is the case try shutting the other
program down and restart FoneMate, then it should work properly.

Once you register you will be able to get the next versions of FoneMate
(Versions 2.1 to 2.9 but not Versions 3.0 and after) for free as
these next versions will have the same Registration ID
