Txt2HTML Wizard Version 1.0	ReadMe - 23 September 1996
---------------------------	--------------------------

Txt2HTML converts existing plain text files to HTML, ready for viewing in
a WorldWide Web browser or for editing with Web page design software. It
is designed as a 'first step' in converting existing documents for
presentation on the World Wide Web.

Txt2HTML Wizard runs on a machine with Windows 3.1x, and should work
on Windows 95. It requires VBRUN300.DLL to be in the Windows\System
directory. If you do not have this file, it is readily available for
download, from Compuserve for instance.

----------------------
Installing the program
----------------------

The program as distributed should comprise the following files:

README.TXT	(This file!)
TXT2HTML.EXE	(The main program file)
THREED.VBX
CMDIALOG.VBX
COMMDLG.DLL	(Support files)

Copy TXT2HTML.EXE and README.TXT into a directory of your choice,
and if you do not already have copies, the remaining files should
be copied into your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. You can then run the
program by using the run option of the file menu in Program
Manager, or add it to an existing program group.

---------------------
Using Txt2HTML Wizard
---------------------

After starting the program, select the text file you wish to convert by
clicking on the top 'Select' button. Similarly enter or select the filename
of the HTML file you want to write to. You will then be able to click the
'Next' button to go to the next stage.

You can also specify a 'header' or 'footer' file to insert into your output
file. These should be valid extracts of HTML code. The header is inserted
before your text file, and could include a standard page header used
in your pages. The footer file is inserted after your input file and
could include a link back to a home page.

The next step allows you set several options about the text.

Check 'New paragraph for each text line' if your file starts a new paragraph
after a carriage return (in Notepad it would appear to have _very_ long
lines). However leave it unchecked if, like this text file, there is a
carriage return after each line, and paragraphs are started after
a blank line.

Enter the document title in the text box - this is displayed when the file
is viewed in a Web browser.

If you have a background image (wallpaper) put a reference to it in
the next text box. (For example BGROUND.GIF, or IMAGES/BGROUND.GIF)

By checking 'Specify colours' you can select the default colours in your
web page.

Click on 'Next' to go to the next page and then on 'Convert file' to create
your output file.

After clicking on 'Next', you can select the programs you use to view or
edit your Web pages. Click on 'Add' to select a program to add to the list;
after selecting a program in the list, click on 'Launch!' to run it with
the file you have just created.

Using your favourite editor, you can then add highlighting, pictures, change
headings and add links to other pages.
